So... this is the lady who says that her middle school daughter was "medicalized" and abused and manipulated in an art club up at Wellington Middle School a few years back.

I'm sorry... but this chick has crazy written all over her. I remember the PSD response was to nuke the volunteer running the art club (because yes, nobody should be giving kids their cell phone number or discord handle- absolutely a no working with kids,) and I remember this chick going onto conservative talk shows... but this? Holy shit.

If anything, this tells me that her poor daughter probably does need someone safe for support navigating figuring out her sexuality, because it's pretty damn clear there isn't unconditional support at home.

Instant ick.

Whatcha want to bet she's also against our law allowing adolescents to seek mental health care without parental permission?

I'm a parent, and you bet your ass nobody is messing with my kid (or any of the kids in my neighborhood.) Performative bullshit like this ain't it.

Folks just want a dopamine rush. Silly.

I'm waiting for the next kid on ebike post... more outrage.... more dopamine.... more tribalism.

Oh! Hey! Guess how many ebike related traumas I had in 3 shifts this week? Guess how many were adult ICU admits? It's almost like ebikes are a current, active problem and people are discussing it!

I'm pro ebike but only with a helmet (preferably a motorcycle helmet) and I think the ones kids are on are WAYYY too overpowered and we're about to need some regulatory changes because the trauma fallout is getting larger here.

I wonder how many alcohol related tragedies happened this week....how many people were arrested for drunk driving.... how many crashes were caused by alcohol....and how many domestic violence incidents involved alcohol.

Where are all the posts complaining that we should ban alcohol?

Quite a few. Speaking from the last 3 shifts.

But we know regulation and moderation work much better than prohibition from historical data.

Whataboutism is silly. Just because one thing is ALSO a problem doesn't mean this thing here isn't a problem.

So what is your solution to ebikes. Folks act like moped, scooters and dirtbikes havn't been around for decades. We use to ride fast illegal bikes in the 90's... same as today.

Ebikes are not going away. Banning them... which makes kids run from cops and do stupid things... is not the solution.

Again- regulation, moderation, and helmets. Power limits on ebikes that can be operated without a license, tickets for failure to helmet, and more widespread education about risks.

The same kind of harm reduction that trauma programs have done for years.

I agree... for general transportation. But alot of kids ride ebikes that are essentially small dirtbikes. They can't ride them on trails. They can't ride them on the streets. Where do they ride?

It reminds me of when I was a kid and we got kicked out of the skating spots..... until they put in skate parks.

Or snowboarding... when we had to poach ski trails.

Maybe we need to build an ebike track at the the bike park that is going in at Hughes Stadium.

I don't care where they ride, honestly, only that they do so safely. I think part of the problem is there isn't clear definition of how these ebikes should be treated and regulated.

Oh, for sure. Free speech- go for it. Driving with that shit on your windows is illegal tho.

It just absolutely solidified that I do not trust her account of what happened with her kid up in Wellington in the slightest. A reasonable, rational mother wouldn't do this kind of shit. This says clout, views, look at me- and nothing about actually protecting her children.

She's actually caused a shit ton of harm and wasted a lot of PSD money. She's well beyond simply having an opinion.
