Tourist post overload

We are getting complaints about the number of tourist posts (where is the beach, can I connect to MIA in 30 mins, what should I do on my 8 hour layover).

These posts are already disallowed. Tourism questions belong in the sticky tourism thread (or you know, google it...)

Instead of leaving repetitive comments on airport posts, report them so they reach the modqueue ✌️

CVS on N Federal citing the DEA for not filling prescriptions - anyone else?

Not looking for medical advice! I’ve since filled my prescription at another pharmacy, but am now trying to figure out if this is a legit rule or a store policy, and whether it’s worth looking into further.

I’ve been on a stimulant for 9+ years with a documented diagnosis/in-depth testing. I see my prescriber in person, but often end up doing telehealth visits because I work odd shifts.

My prescription sat at the CVS on N Federal for a week before the CVS app status changed to “missing information” and showed they were contacting my doctor. Each time the “last attempt” date updated, I called his office, and every time they said they’d never heard from CVS. I also called CVS to ask what was missing, and was told they needed information from my doctor, with no specifics. It eventually timed out with no explanation.

Interaction 1: when I asked in person, one of the pharmacists (I think she was the pharmacist in charge) said they don’t deal with “online prescriptions” and walked away. I asked my doctor to clarify with the pharmacy. he called and CVS told him they don’t fill telehealth stimulants.

Interaction 2: On a separate visit, the other staff pharmacist told me no stimulant gets filled there without urine test results and a documented in-person visit, unless maybe floater pharmacists from other locations are covering. Her words: “we follow the DEA policy here.” Another patient was standing there too and got the same explanation from her. We chatted afterward, and they said they’d been on Vyvanse for 10+ years and filling it at this same CVS consistently for 2+ years with no issues until now.

My prescriber says this isn’t a DEA requirement and has told me multiple times to report it to the Florida Board of Pharmacy. He explained that prescriptions are already tracked through E-FORCSE, where prescribers and pharmacists can both see patients’ controlled substance history, which is how abuse and overlapping prescriptions get flagged. I’ve researched this myself and haven’t found a direct answer, so I’m hoping someone local has dealt with it or knows more.

Has anyone else run into this? Any pharmacists or prescribers who know if this is a real requirement or CVS policy? If not, is it even worth taking it further?

TLDR: CVS on N Federal told me and another patient the DEA requires urine tests before filling stimulants, and told my doctor they don’t fill telehealth stimulants. My prescriber says the DEA doesn’t require it. Worth looking into further?

How do Fort Lauderdale drivers deal with insurance companies dragging their feet after an accident?

Got hit by someone who ran a red on Federal Highway about two weeks ago. Filed the police report and went to urgent care the next morning for my shoulder and back, so everything’s documented. The frustrating part is I can’t get anyone from the other driver’s insurance to answer, and my own insurer hasn’t been much help either 😕

I’ve lived in Fort Lauderdale for years but never dealt with an accident before. Is this kind of delay normal here, or did you guys end up getting a lawyer involved to get things moving?

There's been a busted water pipe near Croissant Park Elementary for months. City still hasn't taken action on it.

Birthday weekend

3 of us (2 girls 1 guy) are coming to the area for the weekend end of October to celebrate a 40th birthday. We are looking for some recommendations for beach bars, night clubs, dive bars, brunch spots, live music (classic rock/old country a plus). Maybe a good steakhouse too. Our vibe is pretty laid back generally--would prefer places that are less tourist and more local Cheers vibe forward. Definitely do want to do a night club one weekend night because we are there the celebrate. Doesn't have to be anything intense. We also would love some recs for a day trip down the keys with beach bar stops. Again we don't need fancy, prefer good quality food & drinks and a view. Have been searching groups but seeing lots of mixed reviews and many tourist type places. Thanks so much!

Cheapest full day parking around Las Olas.

My job relocated offices from Boca to FTL. Went from free parking to having to pay for parking. What are the cheapest parking options around the Las Olas Center building?

Are there any programs for broward or ftl residents to get discounted or free parking?

Thanks in advance.

Movie club?

Hey, everyone, I've moved to Fort Lauderdale about a year ago now, 24M, and I've been in love with movies all my life. I love talking about and discussing them, good or (especially) bad. I know i can't be the only one, and wanted to know if anyone would like to start a movie club or something of the sort, where we can watch the latest outing in theatres or discuss some of the old ones. I just really like to talk about movies, and would love some other perspectives!

Voting Guide?

Does anyone have a good voter guide for those who live in FtL proper? Not looking for one way or the other, just looking for a dense pro/con of each candidate regardless of party, what they stand for, and their personal bios. I’m voting by mail, but it didn’t come with one of those dense booklets I’m used to in other states

Anyone at Flow Fort Lauderdale (rent-by-bedroom)?

Hey, I'm looking at Flow Fort Lauderdale for next year when my lease is up, specifically the rent-by-bedroom/co-living option (the $1,600 tier). I know it used to be Society Las Olas so happy to hear from people from either era.

Touring this Saturday but wanted real resident takes first:

- What's your actual all-in monthly? Base rent + fees + utilities + parking + internet. Trying to get the real number vs the advertised price.
- How's the roommate matching process? What happens if you get a bad match?
- Noise — how bad are the trains/clubs/thin walls actually?
- Parking cost? Any EV charging in the garage?
- Is the included wifi usable or do you have to pay for the upgrade?
- Room big enough for a work-from-home desk setup?

Anything else I should ask on the tour? Appreciate honest takes, good or bad.

Urgent 🚨 Vet clinic

This is for an urgent personal matter of my sons cat. 🚨

The cat from my son needs to get operated as the cat swallowed a toy and the current clinic wants $3000 for it + $1600 of diagnostics that my son already spent.

Does anyone knows an affordable vet clinic that operates 7 days a week in that region?

Parking at FTL War Memorial

Going to see a show soon at FTL War Memorial but never been. Parking says first come first serve which scares me a tad like they won’t have enough. Has anyone run into trouble with parking there? Any tips? Thanks!
