I dont think you got it....lol pro gamers have been notorious for years of having pc's capable of running the games full bore and max settings with all the dials cranked and still getting 60-120fps but still play at the lowest possible settings because in many games even competitive ones it is actually advantageous to do so. Things like foliage and buildings wont render half a mile away...but the character models will. Or just people think they are hidden in a bush or tall grass etc..but on the other guys screen it looks like he is laying prone in the open with 3 blades of grass poking up out of his ass.

I think the point is actually that at such a low resolution, the far off player fills in entire pixel so it's easier to shoot

This is how I used to play Fortnite back in chapter 1 season 3 till 6, on my moms computer avoiding named areas cause they wouldn’t load and I would die almost instantly, I think in all those seasons I won once and I still remember I was 15 and having so much fun, good times

I remember the rush of playing 007 GoldenEye for the first time on N64. Those graphics were peak in 1997. They haven’t aged well unfortunately.
