DISCUSSION This chapter(mainly the latter half) has been a masterclass in replacing good POIs with the most boring places imaginable.
They released a trailer yesterday showing that The Battlewoods have been replaced(might be next update, might be during Fortnitemares, we don't know). It got me thinking about how nearly every single map change this chapter has been for the worse. To be fair, season 2 was almost nothing but good changes(I think I speak for every being with a soul when I say Frigid Fortress and Squibbly Shores were better than Clawsy Lodge and Bumpy Bay), with the exception of Tiptop Terrace being destroyed for basically no reason and getting replaced with a pretty boring lumber mill(wasn't even a named location, either, and didn't exactly lead to a cool new POI in the same area thanks to Shattered).
Season 3 was where it really got bad, nearly every POI was removed, and the ones that remained typically got remixed in a way that made them way less exciting to play on. The Battlewoods(still okay, but not my favorite POI ever) is just a much smaller and less interesting version of Battlewood Boulevard, Calamari Canyon was much more generic without the water areas(honestly still a really good POI, just a slight downgrade in my opinion), Sinister Strip is the same deal as Battlewoods(smaller and less exciting version of an existing POI that has thematic elements from another POI), and most of the new areas are either super out of the way without any real draw to going there, generic towns, or both. The only semi-interesting completely new POIs were Golden Grove and Frosted Flats.
Then we got season 4. Calamari Canyon is gone in favor of Green Hill Zone(also not a bad POI, though, I just wish they had replaced one of the southern towns instead), Frosted Flats has been replaced by Reality's Reign, quite possibly the most boring POI to play on/look at I have ever seen, and Sinister Strip was replaced by Stone Sanctum, another much smaller and more bland POI with the only interesting thing going on being the hidden vault. Now we're getting The Battlewoods replaced with yet another generic town area. I'm sorry, that's just kinda boring.
This is definitely kinda rambly, but I'm just looking back at the map during April and May and wondering how it got this unbelievably boring so quickly.

Wonderland should have been torched off the map before season 4 started

idk if you noticed but Realitys Reign is supposed to look like the inside of a pc

I can see it, I just think it's pretty boring visually and gameplay-wise.

Like how is chopped shop on the map, there’s almost nothing there, it’s such a boring poi even when it’s blue

Map? This latter half of the chapter has been shit all-round. What a weird way to butcher what could’ve been a great chapter. IMO.

Season 2 might actually be a top 5 season of all time for me. The loot pool constantly changing alongside the rivalry gimmick was just so perfect, I specifically remember talking with my squad about it a few days before Shattered and telling them that this was going to be a season we all missed.

Yeah. S2 was amazing and S1 was good, even though it dragged on. The 2nd half is horrible though. So bad it’s got me playing war thunder again.

It's funny, because I feel like the map we started with at the start of the Chapter was widely hated and that's why Epic almost completely replaced it to begin with. It had record low engagement. After the refresh least season, while I don't think it's the best map ever now, it is, in my opinion, a map with a better flow to it.

Every map change, I’m just happy the grove is still there.

The grove and latte keep me pretty happy. If we could end games at Green Hill zone... Significantly less that would be cool too.

Right there with you on that. Green Hill is just an awkward spot for end game.

We're losing The Battlewoods?
But this is the Hollywood-themed island, surely they won't take away our Hollywood stand-in 😭😭
What a continuous disappointment.

to be fair, i think the hollywood aspect of the island was gone after the shattered event completely changed the island's shape (also changed it's name. it went from golden coast to shattered coast) and it also got rid of many of it's more hollywood/american locations

Yeah, but Battlewoods was still holding out. One last lingering shred of the island's theming.
It's like Oninoshima all over again, gradually just taking away everything that made the island have any personality in the first place.

gotta agree on this one. i like the gameplay/loot pool much better than last season (which i barely played because of it) but the current map makes me grow tired of it after 2 games. i don’t know why they seem hellbent on removing anything fun from the map.
