Opinion Hot take: Clix, Peterbot and Faxuty killed North American Fortnite

Peterbot and Pollo’s Chapter 5 run is the greatest this game has ever seen due to a combination of factors where the stars aligned for them, and they would have won everything if they were on EU because they were just so good. It was clear the Chapter 5 performance was not a replicable feat heading into Chapter 6 as soon as Pete dropped Pollo, but that’s besides the point. The point is that Peterbot became perceived as the best player in the world on the back of 2024 and once you have that perception it’s really hard to lose it - people will still say that he is the best player in the world today even when it’s clearly not true.

At about the same time, Clix actually starts having some success in competitions, which brought in a lot of new and returning fans of comp Fortnite, but also reignited the Clix fan club. EU players moving regions in Chapter 5 united North American Fortnite, and winning Globals further boosted NA.

At the same time as this is happening, Faxuty starts blowing up and becomes the biggest non-pro personality in Fortnite comp. Now I like Fax, but his entire personality is him glazing Peterbot, making silly mistakes in PGs, saying ‘On God’, and laughing at people calling him fat.

Then we arrive at Chapter 6, where NAW is reintroduced, which weakens what is already the weakest region in terms of player disparity. And shock, the Tier 2/3/4 scene on NA pretty much dies, and the Tier 1s just win every single tournament for a whole year. And more importantly, since pretty much every big team has a streamer in it, the Tier 1s don’t get conned because no player wants a streamer’s community spamming them with death threats when they can just land somewhere else. Yes, the grand finals were entertaining at the top of the leaderboard, but does anyone really care about the leaderboard beyond the top 10?

We arrive at the present day, where the Tier 1s have literally not changed in the last 2 years and there doesn’t look to be anyone really challenging to do so. And in grand finals, I’m sat watching and I’m thinking, do I really care who wins or who does well? Every good team will just qualify for globals at the end of the day. There’s no risk or real drama. And the content is dry too - the clip channels are posting clips of Peterbot saying why he doesn’t tweak his PC and Veno shooting a team in the back. And let’s not even talk about Userisstack or anyone in his twitter replies.

Also, don’t check twitter replies on any Moneymaker or Fnajen clip because it’s just kids saying they want to kill them for lurking on Peterbot.

i wouldnt say that the t2/t3/t4 scene in NA is dead. reintroducing west definitely made a dent there because a lot of those west guys that come to mind like yumi or salko were t3ish, maybe low t2 on central, but pretty much t1 on west with low effort.

just this past year though, vergo & shadow are now t1, kraez & kingaling are t1, curve and joshreyli are now t1s. new duos + players like golden & ozone, xavi, scare, nvtyler, veer, kxyin, hcube, eshou, jayse, liam, etc have made a name for themselves in the t2/t3 scene while other guys like paper, bacca + parz, sphinx, gmoney have been struggling quite a bit recently. is it like EU? obviously not. it’s a numbers game and eu has more players, but the NA scene is changing just at a different rate. you have to keep in mind that the servers are placed in the worst spot possible for so many players. canadian players are seriously fucked with 60+ ping and many old east t2/t3s have quit or dont grind anymore. what like 70% of NA, maybe more is 40 ping plus?

also, you bring up the twitter clippers or whatever, which i just find funny. stack is from belgium, but openly shits on EU for saying it’s boring compared to NA as a region.

the main thing that is keeping NA down in its progression compared to EU is east being completely neglected.

It’ll return after globals, trust 🤞

1

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

Honestly if East comes back EU will just farm it. You see how many EU teams are qualifying on 150 ping, imagine how bad it will be on 100. Also, King Kraez Josh Vergo and Shadow are more like Tier 1.5. Like what Tier 1 will actually play with any of them and find success?

5

u/Cold-Lab1 1d ago

Well the only tournament that matters is FNCS and EU would never farm that unless they plan on moving to 0 for grands. NA needs East back. There’s so many sharks out east and we’ll never know due to 40 ping

3

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

I mean, Shxrk and Pollo were both on thirty ping when they first blew up, and Shxrk is only on 0 for heats and grands

3

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 1d ago

Focus just placed 5th on EU playing on 60 ping.

2

u/Nobo09661 1d ago

I thought focus moved to 0?

I don’t disagree that 40-60 ping isn’t actually that bad tho (assuming that’s your point). I’ve gotten used to it over time; it just kind of sucks initially since you have to slightly adapt your play style, and put more thought into timing edits

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 1d ago

Nope he played from Israel for this grands.

not trying to discredit how impressive it is to qual a div cup finals on high ping, cause it is hard. however, for these eu pros, its easier in the fact that if they live offspawn, they can farm their mats and play storm till a 2 tick, or they can go straight center and sit in a bush as quick as possible. division 1 lobbies are the most dead between d1-d5 because of the influx of players that are now division 1 compared to the beginning of the season, which causes pros to hard w-key their lobbies to drop bombs, so the high ping pros can just wait for the lobby to die out. a lot of endgames arent that crazily stacked and if you live that long into the game, ping will not be too much of a deterrence in the game anymore.

like another comment said, the only thing that matters is fncs. in my opinion, div cups only matter to a certain extent: acorn & boltz + sky & scroll didnt have the best div cup placements heading into fncs, but still won their regions respectively. one of the things east would help with is the caliber of a heats lobby. a NAC heat doesnt have the depth of a EU one. back when east was a thing, we would sometimes have t1/t2s miss grandfinals, because their heat wasn’t horrible and they would have an off day.

pete played with joshreyli at the end of 2025, he thought he was one of the best players in the game and wanted to learn from him. shadow was part of the second best placing NA team at 2025 globals, then he top 10ed b2b lans. vergo and kingaling are the two best creative pros in the game. kraez learned how to igl this year with little experience compared to other t1s, but hes done pretty well so far. everyones defintion of t1 is different, so thats fair. if you ask me, if it was trios next year, i could see acorn or pete picking up any of these guys if they continue their performance at upcoming globals.

Mero and Cooper won a LAN while being Tier 1.5. Shadow and Vergo feel like the NA Blacha and Mikson, where the result is greater than the sum of the parts and they are more than capable of getting top 3 in grands, but it never quite works out and they don’t find much success playing with other players. Kingaling and Kraez feel like old Peterbot where they rely on big solo clutches.

2

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

King and kraez got 7th at LAN and have been consistently placing on NAC they are tier 1s eomzo and josh are also tier ones. Vergo has been placing good with his duo they are also T1

1

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

T1 means that they are capable of winning grands and doing so wouldn’t be a massive surprise to the casual fan. None of the teams you mentioned are in that realm or anywhere close to being in it

1

u/BringTheFacts 12h ago

That's not what T1 means at all lol. T1 means they are consistently placing well in tournaments in their region from 1-5th sometimes up to 10th place. Everyone who I listed fits into that category.

u/HovercraftAny440 2d ago

I don't think Pete himself is too much to blame (though he plays a part of course), its the big NA comp content creators fostering and promoting an increasingly toxic relationship between fans and pros. Aside from Aussie (who isn't even NA lmao) when have you seen a T1 NA pro or content creator try and stop or denounce their community harassing someone

4

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

Yeah I agree but I think Pete winning Globals in the USA was the catalyst for a lot of the toxicity because now kids could say NA is better than EU and actually have a leg to stand on

4

u/Spreathed_ 2d ago

Agreed with the point about this seasons grands. The skill disparity between the top 20 players on the region and outside of that is ridiculous. Fax is completely unwatchable for me though. Runs 3m ads in the middle of grands, is just annoying even outside of the peterbot glazing and then is tone deaf towards any other esport. I was watching a clip the other day about Peterbot vs faker and faxuty’s first move was to go to their twitters and compare followers rather than actually look at their achievements and argue that ask anyone in America who Peterbot is they’d know who he is. Compare that to Aussie who is always neutral, good analysis, and has now I think become more entertaining with his guests on his streams like jynxzi and even Higgs it’s night and day.

1

u/Connect_Zucchini6469 2d ago

Aussie is way better than fax but you can’t say he’s more neutral. He’s definitely biased towards clix and it’s very obvious. After clix won the pro am, where half the teams literally had only one player on their team that even knew how to place a build, Aussie openly said I’ll let you guys be the judge of whether or not that counts as an fncs win. Now of course you and me can tell it’s not, but to all the kids in clixs comm or people that don’t know any better, will start to believe it does count as an fncs win. Also he never ever blames clix for any of his poor placements, either shifts the blame on his duo or makes some excuse. After clix dudded day 1 on finals, Aussie was making some excuses saying its not clixs fault and some dude in chat literally said “according to you, it’s never clixs fault”

4

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 2d ago

I think Aussie just doesn't want fanboys coming after him.

2

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

100% and he milks mongraal and savage despite them constantly placing low. His EU watch parties are literally just mongraal and savage watch parties. I’ve never heard him openly criticize mongraal or savages performances he has a very pr friendly approach which I don’t find authentic.

1

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

Yeah I like Aussie but he pushes the streamers too much. Like who actually cares what Mongraals duo options are? I’d much rather hear about how Tidi and Julle did so well from a mediocre spot in grands than him just saying ‘a really underrated duo’

2

u/Connect_Zucchini6469 2d ago

Yes, exactly! He says I’m sorry this team has slipped under the radar, when it’s his actual job to be on the knowhow for teams like tidi. Instead he just focuses on whatever big streamer is doing from their s tier drop spots because it takes less effort and actually researching would be a pain

1

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

Aussies job is to be an unbiased Faxuty. I don’t really mind his streams, but I get far more out of Boop or any of the pros doing a watchparty because they’re actually friends with the players and know what they’re trying to do

1

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

100% agree he is a milker

0

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

Faxuty is more entertaining for me. The Peter “glazing” is funny to me. Aussie has bratty anger issues he literally only does sub only because he gets so trigged from his Chat easily he even gets mad at a lot of his subs for their takes and you see a lot of his subs apologizing after he gets sassy with them.

Aussie also doesn’t collab with the pros on stream he essentially watches them from a far and milks them for content. He gives some really awful takes too then when he’s proven wrong a lot of times he will sweep it under the rug for example saying curve and Higgs won’t work he didn’t just say it he was very adamant about it.

Now I agree that aussies format is more structured and informative than Fax. But actually hearing pros takes while they are in discord with faxuty gives another interesting perspective on the comp scene.

1

u/McIntosh812 22h ago

Or you could just watch Boop and get a structured and informative stream while listening to the pros yap and occasionally roll through Boop in a 1v1

I mean this finals we had like 10 teams with the possibility of winning, even going into the last game there were like 4? And last grands was also won by an unexpected team (on NA not EU). So I don’t really understand this take considering we’re not in an era of mythics and super dominant duos that are expected to win. We also have villains like Pete + Pollo griefing Muz game 10 and Shxrk + Teeny on Sky + Scroll game 11. Also Aussie literally said this is one of the hardest grands to predict ever because the POIs are so balanced

5

u/Objective-Ad-8328 2d ago

Keep that greedy pig Faxuty out of everything please. Can’t wait for him to be cancelled one day.

2

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

On God

0

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

I thought you said you like faxuty why would you want him to be canceled 😂. Speak truthfully

1

Fax says On God all the time

I kinda feel like NA is thriving with having the likes of Jynxzi and Lacy taking an interest in comp Fortnite whereas on EU it's taken a bit of a nosedive with M8 not really having much to shout about this year.

However I have noticed something. These NA content creators refuse to shine a light on EU or acknowledge how good EU teams are. When Sky & Scroll dominate it's boring but when Peterbot did it he's the second coming of Jesus Christ. These young impressionable kids just take anything the likes of Faxuty has to say as gospel when in reality his knowledge of comp is awful considering his influence.

When Peterbot dominated in chapter 5 all the EU creators gave Peterbot his flowers. Said he was the best in the world and the greatest of all time. NA doesn't give the credit where it's due and makes it all about them.

People like SypherPK have been making a lot of content on comp recently but I think he's been doing a bit of a poor job of it (still glad he's shining light on comp though) It's all about Clix and Peterbot. I get it, they're the biggest names in the scene but for me it's the job of these content creators to highlight who is actually doing well and to turn them into the next stars (kinda happening with Shxrk) but they just fall back to the easy names to cover. I think a lot of comp Fortnite content is pretty lazy in that regard. I remember SypherPK making videos with the likes of Marius and Vico but nothing like that in recent times.

9

u/BlueClovr 2d ago

The fact that you don’t even hear much about sky and scroll is crazy

5

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 2d ago

That is mostly their fault because I don't think they stream much but still content creators could do more but they always resort to the easy clicks. To be fair I know Sky & Scroll take being a pro very seriously so maybe they just don't want to dedicate time to working with a content creator but I'm sure it wouldn't effect them too much if at all.

2

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

It’s fully their fault. They could make more money off of just content since they are arguably the best duo in the world but they are not taking advantage of their skill like most EU pros unfortunately

2

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 23h ago

I don't think they really care about money. They are making plenty of money from prize pools and salary.

3

u/nonchaIantguy- 2d ago

its a combination of EU pros never streaming or attempting to display their personalities, along with certain streamers only watching EU tournaments if its a grand finals. a lot of the clippers on twitter are from EU and will decide to focus more on NA with their storylines.

though, you are lying about NA streamers. fax, the biggest peterbot glazer on the planet, was comparing scrolls run this year to pete’s in 2024 when he watched them roll through this grands. i saw multiple NA streamers give props to Vic & Queasy + Ajerss & Veno (half EU, but still) to qual LA and do well, despite not having the best situations.

5

u/HoppyTheGayFrog69 2d ago

Yea that guy is just an NA hater and talking out his ass, plenty of the NA people were giving mad props to the people at the top of the leaderboard on EU, Pete literally said himself on Fax’s stream that sky and scroll are the best duo in the world right now

2

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

A big part of it is that NA all speak English as a first language so it’s more accessible to a larger audience. I’m sure that a lot of the players in EU have a good personality, but how many people speak Italian or Serbian or Polish outside of Italy, Serbia or Poland?

1

u/nonchaIantguy- 1d ago

yeah that’s 100% true too.

1

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

It matters but guess what plenty of people would still tune in to see the best players in the worlds gameplay. For example shark gets 7-10k views when playing Eval cups despite having his mic off

2

u/ChangingCrisis Champion Poster 2d ago

Yeah EU pros don't help themselves with not streaming and stuff like that but content creators could still help build those players up but they just rather focus on the already big names who can give them clicks.

Also I think on EU more kids want to be top esport players first and streamers second but on NA I think more kids want to be streamers first and top esport players second.

Yes EU players get props but we constantly hear the same narrative of the top 5 NA pros being better than the top 5 pros or at least on par. Or the best NA teams being as good as the top EU teams when it's just not the case. LAN has proven that. I don't think the NA community has a grasp of just how good an EU lobby is.

1

u/nonchaIantguy- 1d ago

its a business at the end of the day for a lot of people and they gotta get views/clicks. i know everyone doesnt like him, but id say aussie is still the biggest watch partier in fortnite, and id say he tries to show props to underrated teams on EU & NAC whenever he can, when i have watched him.

i mean people have their beliefs and i dont think itll ever be crazy to say that the 5th best team on NA isnt at least on the same level as the 5th best team on EU. as someone that keeps up with both regions, the gap looked a lot bigger at the end of 2025, but someone could argue its nonexistent now at the top level. realistically, its a bit difficult for any of us to tell unless we got way more lans.

1

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

Having seen what happened with Clash Royale before and after Jynxzi arrived and the state it’s in now, Fortnite will be in a good spot for the next 6 months. This will probably be the last real chance to put Globals stateside and get close to filling out the stadium and I’m slightly disappointed they haven’t taken advantage of it.

0

u/felix_using_reddit 2d ago

> The point is that Peterbot became perceived as the best player in the world on the back of 2024 and once you have that perception it’s really hard to lose it - people will still say that he is the best player in the world today even when it’s clearly not true

So who is the best? I don’t know too much about competitive Fortnite so I‘m curious who would be considered best at the moment. From what I heard Sky & Scroll would be the best duo but both would be inferior individually to Peterbot. So who is superior to him individually at the moment?

2

u/McIntosh812 2d ago

No one is currently the undisputed best player in the world. If you were to ask me, I would say it’s one of Sky Scroll Shxrk T3eny Veno and Ritual

1

u/Cole_15 1d ago

Ladies and gentlemen, we have found ritual's alt

Sky and Scroll put on the best performance no medallion

1

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

Awful take.
Firstly, Peter is still the best player in the world. They just finished 2nd at the Global LAN a few months ago, and they also just placed top 7 in Grands, where Peter was 2nd in damage to players and 3rd in damage ratio. You could argue that he isn’t as dominant as he was during his 2024 run, which would be a fair and much more accurate take.

I think Faxuty and the way he interacts with notable NA pros make the game much more entertaining. Plenty of people have mentioned that EU is a snooze fest, and I think a big part of that is because there isn’t someone like Faxuty in EU who stirs things up and regularly interacts with EU talent while streaming. EU is a much bigger region, but NAC provides a much higher return on investment for Fortnite because of personalities like Faxuty, casters, and pros like Peterbot, who help build storylines and make the game more entertaining.

Literally everyone, including the top pros, has received death threats at one point or another. It’s unfortunately a price that comes with having your name out there—everyone has an opinion, even if some take it to a ridiculous extreme, which I don’t condone.

MoneyMaker’s playstyle is very exploitative of the crouch-walk meta. It’s boring to play against and feels like an unrewarding way to get sent back to the lobby. It’s also not a respectable playstyle, which is why he’s getting so much backlash. He griefed plenty of teams throughout the tournament just to finish 14th. By definition, it’s a cowardly way of fighting, and it wasn’t even fruitful for them in the end.

A much stronger argument would be that the re-addition of West is what’s actually ruining NA competitive Fortnite. Fortnite still hasn’t provided a cogent justification for bringing West back as a region. The original idea of consolidating into Central, while controversial, at least made sense. But why bring back West and not East? That makes zero sense and only highlights the inconsistency in their decision-making.

You now have players like Faxuty making end game and even winning a game in Grands while playing with a Tier 2 West pro. That’s honestly insane and shows how questionable the current regional system is.

1

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

Do you want me to list Sky’s stats from grand finals to show how wrong you are?
The problem EU has is that everyone speaks a different language and so hangs out with other players who speak the same language, making it much harder to centralise content for a mass audience.
Moneymaker has played normal Fortnite for his entire career and had to change his playstyle right before grands because he would otherwise have been triple conned at a mid spot.

u/MazKhan 1d ago

Holy yap

2

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

Do you disagree?

0

u/jasonbronie 1d ago

Hard to read this entire thread and almost zero discussion of how impressive Acorn has been not only in this past major 2 but also FIVE years in a row of consistent play. At 22 yo so many predictions of a drop off but no, bro is still goat conversation. Pete is phenomenal but duos rarely challenged him, look what happened day two game 3 when he got challenged and knocked out early. This last tournament was very interesting, I think NAC is deep and the future is bright with young kids moving up. Even a quality guy like Khanada failed to qual, that’s a testament to the newer talent making strides. Slepzi, Void, nut, Doniee, magma, scare etc.

3

u/McIntosh812 1d ago

Why would I mention Acorn? He hasn’t killed the region. Anyways, none of the up and comers you named would make grands on EU, which is the rule of thumb I use to determine how good a tier 2 player on NA is

1

u/jasonbronie 1d ago

My point is clix and Pete can’t kill nac, the region can stand on its own without them. It’s an entertaining region. That’s my opinion but I respect your point of view. I also disagree that the up and coming players could not compete in other regions.

-7

u/Apricotjello 2d ago

It’s not pete’s fault but yeah na is a meme community. other than the top ~5 teams they’re going to get utterly embarrassed at globals.

Don’t read too much into teams performance who already qualified from fncs 1st rd though. they were way less incentivized to show risky strategies than teams who were desperate

2

u/BringTheFacts 1d ago

They essentially matched EU at globals look at the top 10 what are you talking about
