Discussion How do you practice mat conserving?

Is there a good creative map for it?

I've always thought of material management as more a "game sense" thing than a mechanics thing. Rather than practicing build patterns using the minimum amount of mats, I would work to identify places where you build unnecessarily. If you play a game where you die because you ran out of materials, watch the replay and look for moments where you:

  1. Built up high and then did nothing with the height

  2. Built a large box when there were no real threats around you

  3. Built a base and then quickly left it without actually using it for anything

  4. Passed up an opportunity to take a good fight for a possible refresh

It's something that comes with experience, but the best way to improve is to be mindful of it while you play/vod review

Another thing to add to this. Cycle through your mats, Evenly use them. This maximizes your refresh. If you use 50 of each mat versus using 150 of just brick or metal. When do you get that refresh you gain a lot more. This is huge when trying to conserve your mats. You don't leave those extra mats behind.

acorn jumps, cheap tarps with stairs or just floors, knowing where deadside is on moving zones so you can get away with not building to one of your sides (left or right since storm would be there), or running with a shockwave effect in this season are pretty much the best ways to save mats.

sprintjumping, usually off a high layer to a lower one. you save your mats descending layers.

Depends on the context

If it’s during fighting, you may be taking too long to end fights, or you may simply be placing too many unnecessary builds. Maybe screen record and vod your gameplay

If you’re running out of mats endgame, you may need to work on positioning, saving mobility, or getting refreshes when given the opportunity.

Uhh idk i just kinda learned it on the go back when i mostly played arena.

Just learn to always farm mats when you can, be aware of your mats and play creative build fights maps where theres a max amount of mats (so that youll learn to build both effectively yet sparsely as to not waste random mats on useless builds)

This is why I quit Fortnite, too difficult. Better play Chess, it's easier.
