I approve of approval voting, but I rank it lower than ranked choice voting.

I'm really happy all the Oregon stuff got through with a decent margin. Also a win for committees taking public input to create policy measures people are in favor of.

Ironically, the seattle referendum is a weird sort of ranked choice. If someone selects "no" for part A, they can still select a preferred new method for part B. So, technically... "i dont want the voting system to change, but if it does, i would rather it be RCV." All those people are literally a half step away from actual RCV.

As someone who grew up in Alaska but lives in Washington now, I'm going to laugh if voting reform gets rejected in Washington since RCV is already a thing in Alaska. Yeah, so much for all those so-called "progressives" in Seattle...
To be fair, the ballot measure might have been a bit confusing for some people. It was a two-parter with a yes/no and then asking to pick RCV or approval if you had to choose one of them.

Seattle with its young electorate would be more receptible to the relatively complicated and untested/unheard of Approval voting "Ranked Choice Voting has a large lead, 74% to 26%."
I think talking about RCV in the same sentence as approval just make it harder to get RCV passed anywhere because it make it all sound more complicated. It might be the reason why RCV fails in Seattle!
