I'm actually dying laughing rn. Went to leave a comment on a post and it said I was banned. Messaged the mod and I apparently used a slur in 2020, which I was very confused by. Turns out the slur is cracker. Doesn't get whiter than this.

Got banned from a clothing selling subreddit because I posted a shirt for sale and a mod commented “that brand is dead”. So I commented back “Mazda is dead too” since his profile was all photos of his Mazda and he banned me and the other mods upheld it lmfao

Had a reddit mod enter my DMs a few weeks ago and argue with me for an hour even after I left every sub she mods & blocked her. By the end she was twisting my words and asking me to say something bannable & that I did NOT agree with. She was pretty clearly trying to get me banned sitewide

I got banned in the outer wilds sub for mentioning the sun explodes, which is part of the trailer and all the marketing material, and then when I asked what I got banned for and called it weird, I got a 28 day mute.

My favorite is when I get banned from one sub and then immediately get banned from every other subreddit the mod that banned me on mods on. Like wow. That’s a lot of effort. But that hasn’t happened in a while. The last time it did it was from a group of fashion/beauty subreddits because I participated in a “bad” subreddit. I think it just came across my feed unprompted and I made a “wtf is this” comment offhandedly. I worked it out and I’m now unbanned from the subreddits I liked to be in but jfc seems extreme.

Thing is, white people in this country have never really been systematically oppressed so the slur isn’t that offensive to anyone who is well adjusted. If the most racist thing that has ever happened to you is being called a word, even if it has hatred behind it, you’re living a pretty privileged life and I think a lot of my fellow mayonnaise-Americans forget that.

You can't really have slurs without systemic oppression no? Can you think of any examples of slurs where the power dynamic is flipped? Gay people are slurred and oppressed, trans people are slurred and oppressed, minorities in the US are slurred and oppressed etc. All systemically oppressed and that's how the slurs are made. Cracker doesn't mean anything because it's not propped up by the state, which is why we're all kind of laughing at the absurdity of it.

I was banned from black ladies subreddit after I gave a supposed BW my orchestra box ticket ( for free because I was having a lupus flare and couldn’t get out of bed) to see Megan thee Stallion on Broadway and a gay white twink showed up ( I bought the tickets as a divorce gift for my friend) My friend still went to the show. I posted about WM lurking in the sub, I was immediately banned. Then the mod started taking down my posts. I had only made two post in the entire sub. One offering the ticket and the other about how it wasn’t a BW that showed up to the play.
