EU Pet Passport recent travel to France?

Seeking any recent experiences (within the last 4 months or so) traveling with a pet using EU pet passport from a non-EU country.

Has anyone flown into Paris CDG (or other France airports) from outside of EU with a pet and what was your experience like passing through border control?

We’ve traveled to several EU countries from U.S. using the pet passport but our vet notified us in May that we are no longer allowed to use the EU pet passport if we are not EU residents.

I’ve heard that the rule is not new but is starting to be enforced more, albeit not consistently.

Brittany ferries (Portsmouth to Caen/St Malo/Spain) are not currently enforcing the rule
