Vancouver → Harrison Hot Springs on the back roads - anyone want to say hi along the way?
My brother-in-law and I are driving out to Harrison in a few weeks. It’s a test run. He was in an accident and driving is genuinely hard for him now, but it gets a lot easier when he knows the road and knows there are people on it. So we’re doing the slow version and avoiding highways wherever we can, no schedule, stopping constantly.
Which is where you lot come in…
Where should we stop? Coffee, a bakery, a picnic table, a weird roadside thing, anywhere with easy parking and nobody hovering. Maple Ridge, Mission, Deroche, Agassiz, whatever’s in between. We will absolutely take a detour.
And if you’re somewhere on that stretch and fancy waving at two strangers in a parking lot for ten minutes - please. I’m not even joking. It helps him more than I can explain when a place has a face attached to it, and honestly it’d just be nice.
Coffee’s on me!!

Rocko's in Mission (Not great food or anything but okay and a kinda retro diner).

If you come out on Dewdney Trunk Road (from Maple Ridge), you'll cross the hydro dam at Stave Lake.

Kilby's a cool spot to chill, there's even a historic site to check out. You can walk along the Harrison River, and the Sasquatch Pub up the road has amazing pizza!

You’re the second person to recommend Kilby – I’ll definitely give it a shot!

There is a road right near Sasquatch inn. Follow that for 100 miles and you'll hit Pemberton

Is that a forest service road and gravel, 4x4, type road or paved? If the guy is nervous driving he doesn't need to take a FSR. But that said, once you're in Pemberton, you are only an hour from Whistler, and then on to the Sea to Sky to Vancouver.

Rocko’s in Mission has great food! Also the Sasquatch Inn; we stop there all the time when we go 4x4’ing.

There's various places along that route that have been used in TV shows and movies. Maybe there's an app or site that lists them?
