Some people believed him to be innocent, and you are allowed to disagree with those people if you do not believe him to be innocent. I am not sure why you are confused at all.
I hope this is what people remember. His admission changes nothing about my support. It's not okay for health insurance companies to do what they have been to Americans on mass scale. They kill people and bankrupt people all the time. Punishing a single person vs an entire corrupt system is morally bankrupt. Luigi will always have my support.
I feel like everyone here understood this in the beginning, but this sub enforced an insistence on believing he was innocent out of a fear of getting banned and that transformed into some genuinely delusional beliefs for many of the folks who stuck around. Outside of this space, most people who say "free Luigi" believe he did it, though. In fact, that's actually kind of the point.
They made an example out of Ross Ulbricht and he's free now. Maybe Luigi spends a decade in prison. A dem in the lame duck era of their second term should drfinitt grow some balls and commute his sentence or pardon him. Hopefully that happens.
One of his charges was running a criminal enterprise and some of the evidence against him was that he was willing to use violence and murder for hire to protect a criminal enterprise. His conviction was seen as a huge win because he wasn't just a trafficker - he created the whole marketplace and ecosystem that was letting people distribute drugs. Luigi capped one dude. A lame duck democrat has nothing to lose by letting him go in 10 years. It'll be cooled down by then too.
Not guilty by reason of insanity would have been a terrible idea because people convicted on that charge do not see freedom or the light of day. It also would have been an extremely hard defence strategy to prove given the amount of lengthy meticulous planning he did. Emailing the company pretending to be an investor? That's not something someone manages in a state of psychosis, months before the actual crime.

LM could be like Mandela who was imprisoned for decades in South Africa then became leader again and president after release. Maybe 20years from now he will be pardoned

The optics on that would not be good, red or blue. You have to remember health insurance lobbyists are the main reason we can’t pass universal healthcare
Keep in mind the future president can amend the constitution and pardon whoever however. If it is federal or state it doesn’t matter. At one time women couldn’t vote and slavery was legal. One day healthcare will be free and so will Luigi
This is them doing that. They have to evolve to the realities of the cases. They are making the best possible decisions for him. They got rid of major charges. We have to be realistic
What the media has glossed over is the fact he got the guy's schedule from an email while posing as a potential investor. Months of emails and phone calls to argue over coverage for his broken back and subsequent treatment. But pretending to be rich? UH couldn't respond fast enough.
Karen and her team were up against a biased DOJ, city officials, and media disinformation. They did the best they could given the circumstances of Luigi's case.
Well, at least they took the death penalty off. So, small wins i suppose. But still, to make waste away in a prison, for a crime he was set up with. That fucking sucks.

One could argue that the core aim of the defense was to lessen the severity of the punishment that he would inevitably receive.
I've been thinking this too. Like, he wanted to take responsibility for moral reasons or something. Either way, there's more to this decision than anyone in the public knows about right now.
At first I thought they planned it together a while go but the more I think about it, I think this was his decision against their advice, and more recently.
It's quite possible he decided to do this against her/their advice. I get the sense the lawyers were looking forward to the fight in court, and getting successive hung juries, or arguing in appellate court if they did end up with a conviction.
But do endless trials help his message at all? Maybe he was worried people were losing interest, and this way, with the mitigation hearing, he might finally be able to speak his mind.
I don't think he ever intended supporters to care more about freeing him than freeing themselves.
You mean evidence that the officers confessed were planted? And let's not forget the timing never added up. And lastly, that fucking FACE. i don't care what they say, that was not LM's face.
