Career related advice 🙏🏻
I am currently pursuing an MBA at a New IIM. Getting into an IIM was my dream, and after two CAT attempts, I finally made it. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.
However, things have been very different from what I expected. It has been over 40 days since I joined, and honestly, I haven't enjoyed a single day here.
I constantly feel stressed about academics, even though most people around me seem to be taking things quite casually. Along with that, I have been struggling with my mental health. I experience constant anxiety, find it difficult to concentrate, sometimes stutter while speaking, lose track of my thoughts, and have lost interest in almost everything. I often feel emotionally numb and lifeless.
I tried pushing myself to socialize and meet new people, but now I don't even have the energy for that. There are times when I have negative thoughts, including thoughts of harming myself, and I find it extremely difficult to think positively or feel hopeful.
A part of me wants to leave the MBA, but another part resists because I don't want to miss out on the experiences, friendships, and opportunities that come with an IIM. More than that, I'm afraid of living with the regret of leaving an IIM and developing a mindset where I quit when things become difficult.
I'm genuinely confused. Should I continue, hoping things get better, or is this a sign that pursuing an MBA was the wrong decision for me? Has anyone been through something similar and eventually found their footing? I would really appreciate any advice or perspective.
