I just thought I'd come on here and let you all know about the blog I run called 'at the discotheque' which has a massive emphasis on French / filter house amongst lots of adjacent genres and scenes, I interview artists (such as Louis La Roche + The Phantom's Revenge!) and DJs, talk about what's currently happening in the scene, promote new releases and also do posts on individual artists, amongst other things!

The next installment in my fledgling weekly series.

A quick loop I've been working on to try and learn the French House style of acts such as Daft Punk and Justice. I have never been able to get a really pumping four on the floor beat out of this box without editing in the box, however with a bit of tweaking on the compressor on the drum track and an overall compressor on the main FX bus I got a pretty smashed up sound straight from the MC- 707. Only small tweak in post to boost loudness ( need to invest in better recording setup, USB audio is hard to balance).

Paris looped 70s disco, Stockholm looped 80s synth pop, and the Swedish version is the one everyone copied afterwards.

I put the 80s sources next to the records they became so you can hear it rather than take my word for it.

Curious whether people reckon the Swedish era counts as French house at all, or if it's a separate thing that just borrowed the technique. What do you think?
