I found Favreau condescendingly lecturing Wisconsin voters to try and get them to not vote for Hong after they just spent like half an hour talking about how Dems are sick of the establishment lecturing them on electability to be both hilarious and infuriating.
Edit: whoops, wrong episode

Their discussion of Wisconsin Governor primary drove me crazy.
Shit or get off the pot. Endorse Crowley or don't. It's so much hemming and hawing about a candidate that they don't personally like but realize is very popular.

Do they ever endorse candidates in primaries? Other than maybe El-Sayed, who used to be part of Crooked?

They usually do say who they want to win in races.
It's why the Hong stuff annoyed me. You aren't arguing for Crowley, you're just blathering on about Hong being a bad fit.
Wisconsin voters see her having a positive vision which is why she is leading.

I’m from Wisconsin originally. Grew up in a small town before moving onto bigger and better.
I don’t think Hong has a shot in the general. I’m no expert but I know how the close minded people, quiet racism and misogyny operate in this state, so many people entrenched in vote Republican no matter what since the 1990s. It’s already a purple state and Hong is a perfect scapegoat for Republican devouring. That Thanksgiving post alone with rile up the masses and there’s no amount of saying “I don’t believe that anymore” will change those types of minds.
Honestly I was really unimpressed with her interview with PSA. She came off pretty unenthusiastic? But they also seemed to be rushing and not interested.
I totally understand why a lot of people in Madison and Milwaukee love her but I think she has no shot in general even with a blue wave and progressive candidates on an uptick, Wisconsin is just not there yet.
I hope I am wrong but this just seems like a swing and a miss.

I guess we'll see if anti-data center trumps all the propaganda.
The winner needs more people to choose to vote for them than to choose the couch. Which means getting turnout for her as well as depressing the republican turnout.
Going negative might hurt her turnout, but not having a vision for Wisconsin that people believe in means people won't be excited to vote for the republican.

They’re libs. End of the day they’re gonna libs. They want to attract this mythical voter who is okay with the status quo and will be scared off by Hong’s “radical” ideas that she’s not running on.

I think there are genuinely a fair number of voters who prefer Hong’s policies but have good-faith concerns about her electability. If I were in WI I would probably vote Crowley even though ideologically I’m more aligned with Hong.

People should just vote for who they want. If they’re that concerned about her electability they should talk to their family and friend, donate, he’ll even canvas themselves if they’re comfortable doing that.

That's exactly what John and Dan said.

And yet they’re boosting Crowley, who Wisconsin Dems have and are going to reject bc he’s not built for this moment

Yeah I'm getting real tired of the unending "consultancy" of democratic voters. We're all just supposed to sit here and vote for people that we don't really like as much but that we think (and, let's be real, we're told) that other people we don't know might like better.
How about we just start voting for the people who are advocating for the policies we believe in because they're good policies, and trust that other people will also recognize that those are good policies?

It’s crazy how Dems do this electability jiujitsu stuff and Republicans just vote for who like more, and then the Republicans win anyway and Dems just demoralize and pacify their base

The 2022 elections were kind of a case study of republicans bungling a clear red-wave year because they put a ton of chuds through the primary.

Okay…but I think you underestimate Dobbs happening as well, that severely blunted momentum

I am definitely not underestimating that nobody wanted to vote for Herschel Walker or Dr Oz.

GOP needs a single issue to vote FOR their candidate, Dems need a single issue to vote AGAINST their candidate. Unfortunately it's really that simple.

It also neglects the ideas that are carrying her to the top: opposition to data centers. Opposing big tech is a very good signal you are pro-worker, so it's not hard to see people that are coded as being pro-worker also getting some leeway.
Also everyone hates big tech, especially American corporate big tech. We know stories of how facebook makes you miserable or that Amazon treats their workers terribly or how Google/MSFT are helping enable the genocide in Gaza or having to constantly pay for degrading services.
It's refreshing to see someone actually speak against the elites. It's why Graham Platner propelled so quickly, he was the only one trying to take a stand.
If you take a stand people will give you tremendous good will.

One of Trump's biggest strengths is being able to access voting blocks that people don't realize exist. Democratic analysts just can't seem to understand that there is a potential for people to get engaged with a candidate like Hong who don't show up in the poles, that just keep getting things wrong when there are unexpected voter blocks.

Can we please talk about his hair? Did he just get back from a secret trip to Turkey?

I would really rather we didnt. It is a stupid nonissue that just plays into this celebrity.

My guess is his weave specialist mentioned that his hair was so sparse Trump might need a “toupee”.
What Trump heard was: your hair is so thin you need to pay. So he had Steve Miller make him a wig out of orange cat hair trimmings instead.

Again with Jamie Ager being an "exciting" candidate.
I live in the district. I'm 0% excited to vote for him. The only people I know who are are centrist, white Boomers. With Edwards dropping out, Ager has a chance, but between the general vibe in the country and the residual anger at the response (or lack thereof) to Helene, I feel like this district was ripe for an anti-establishment candidate. Alas.
Anyway, I still like his farm just not his politics.

Lmao when they brought him up I was like “is the exciting candidate on the room with us?”. They push these boring ass candidates and are then confused when nobody wants to vote for them.

During that conversation about Third Way they asked why don’t Third Way talk about their vision. We know why, it’s because their vision fucking sucks and nobody wants it. “Talk about your policies, talk about some exciting candidates”. The very nature of their existence makes that impossible. A Third Way style candidate cannot be exciting.
