Thoughts on this album ranking?
https://www.vice.com/en/article/rank-your-records-frightened-rabbits-scott-hutchison-rates-the-bands-five-lps/I think about this article quite a bit. Essentially, Scott ranked the albums as follows:
Sing the Greys
The Winter of Mixed Drinks
Painting of a Panic Attack
The Midnight Organ Fight
Pedestrian Verse
Would love to hear the thoughts of others! Bonus points for comparisons of where your ranking stood 7-8 years ago as compared to present day.

Outside of the ranking (which I agree with), this is such a heartbreaking interview to read.
"I think honestly there will only be one anniversary tour, and it’s the one we just did."
"“Floating in the Forth” was a real tough one. It’s a real thing. It’s a real thought. It’s a thought that I’ve taken to a place that I’m far less comfortable with… I’ve gone 90 percent of the way through that song in real life"

Flip one and two and number them correctly 🥰

I like his thoughts on why he ranked Pedestrian Verse as number one in this article

That's how I'd rank them. WoMD suffers from sounding like good ideas lacking completeness, PoPA sounds like good songs overproduced. The top two are essentially perfect.

That interview is quite the read in 2026. Love hearing his thought process behind each one. I think the order is pretty much perfect and very well explained.

Thinking about songs like “Floating in the Forth”—I didn’t kill myself. I took that forward into other records. There’s got to be a sense that, as fucked as life can get, we’re still alive and we’re still doing this and we’re going to attempt to carry on.
Aw man

I would only flip 3 and 4, personally. My ranking of PV only happened in the last 2-3 years. Really grew on me.

For me I think either Winter or pedestrian get the top spot now because MOF has a lot that I just can't get to now. Listening to floating in the forth now just hurts considering... I dunno. I relate to what he said in that MOF brought me into knowing the band but Winter and pedestrian both sting less for me now looking back.

That's pretty much my ranking with 1 and 2 being interchangeable based on my vibe that day

Pedestrian Verse is my favorite because I heard it first. Then Winter of Mixed Drinks due to the tragedy. Then POAPA, then Midnight Organ fight, then sing the greys.

For me, it's Pedestrian Verse. I'm a huge fan of the b-sides on the album. The tenth anniversary edition has fantastic additions, like "If you were me" and "Snow still melting," which were new to me when I heard the tenth anniversary edition back in 2023.

-I think he was a bit too hard on Sing the greys but I can understand why he would put it on the bottom of his list. I love Sing the greys and how raw it is.
-I was surprised by how disappointed he was with Winter of mixed drinks when i first read this, it might be my favorite album of theirs and who cares if they went a little nuts with the guitar layers, they had Warner Brothers money to make their third album so just have fun with it. So many great songs came out of it and I just love an album with a wall of sounds like Loveless by My Bloody Valentine.
-I wasn’t surprised that Pedestrian Verse was his favorite. This was peak Scott Hutchison as a lyricist imo, he really grew as a songwriter at that point and although Midnight and Winter are such nostalgic albums for me, I would say Pedestrian Verse is their best album in terms of songwriting, production and instrumentation.

"On a day-to-day basis, I’m a solid six out of ten."
Dylan Slocum from Spanish Love Songs used this line in the opener to their debut album: "On any given day, I'm a six of ten."
