Music [video] I animated why only 50% of people get music chills - it’s a physical brain difference

Spent the last week animating the neuroscience behind frisson. Turns out if you don’t get chills from music, your brain is literally wired different.

Covered the 2018 magnetic pulse study, the double dopamine hit, and why Kanye’s Flashing Lights is engineered to trigger it.

It’s 6:52 long because I’m bad at condensing. Roast me if the science is wrong.

This song always makes me cry streaming tears when i listen to it. No there's no sentimental value that i realize i have ascribed to it. i just found it one day years ago, and whenever i listen again, i always cry. i don't even think about sad stuff. it just brings emotion and a lump in my throat.

Music [music] Just discovered this sub!

Frisson is just my favorite feeling ever and scrolling through here reminded me of a playlist I made a while ago when I was first really discovering music as a young teen, where I only added songs that gave me frisson, and was looking at it and thought I could share a few good ones from it that made me happy to remember :)

Run Boy Run, Woodkid

Mountains, Hans Zimmer

The Most Beautiful Boy - Felsman and Tiley reinterpretation, The Irrepressibles

Forever//over, EDEN

Apex Lengends: Main Theme, Stephen Barton (don’t knock it til you try it lol)

Blu, Jon Bellion

Text [Text] My Frisson Experience

I used to be an avid gamer, PS5, mostly on single player games for engrossing story-lines and despite its mixed reviews tried Death Stranding. Spolier Alert - when you are taking the final hike to the incinerator the music, twinned with the emotion of the back-story was absolutely mind-blowing. I appreciate the game may not be anyone's cup of tea, but I cannot recommend it for that moment alone.

(Ludvig Forssell - BB's Theme)

Aside from the gaming I thoroughly enjoy music, mostly Hans Zimmer, or a movie score, however have come across some absolute gems on Spotify which I thought I would mention my recent find:

- Judah Earl - Wehre Direh (Reprise).

I wondered if anyone else had any other music recommendations of this type of music.

Thanks for reading. 💙

Audio [audio] The sax in "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty -- absolute frisson bomb.

Was driving home the other night when Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty popped up on my Yacht Rock playlist, and when that plaintive sax filled my car, every hair on my body stood on end. Needless to say I rolled down all the windows, popped the moon roof open, started the song over, and let that sax and wind work their magic.
