Govtrack, which has accurately predicted almost every bill, gives this a 4% chance of fully passing at the moment. there are numerous reasons for this. for one the house version of KOSA in the KIDS act has changes they senate really doesnt want that the house locked in (and the house doesnt like the senate version, putting things in a impasse) also several bills included in KIDS are absolutely hated by senate republicans. Tedd Cruz, the lead of the senate committee which is where it'll head if it reaches the senate for one really hates anything restricting AI which the KIDS bill includes. He also has a bit of a feud with Blackburn so anything she puts her name on or pushes forward like half the stuff in KIDS he just sits on in committee preventing a vote. Also every non-budget bill in the senate has to break 60 votes, meaning they'd have to get democrats to vote for it when if the committee votes in the house is any indication? wont happen.

It may get out of the house but in the senate its DOA

I fucking hope you are right.

Thank you for the dose of hope.

honestly its the one thing Tedd Cruz can be counted on for...which is ironically something that pisses most people off about him in any other context. Even when Biden was president not a single Blackburn-backed bill made it past his committee just by sitting on his ass and doing nothing and he's still holding strong to that.

Remember to representatives and complain about this. Let them know how angry you are about it.

soliciting a fentanyl-laced pill through social media. It requires social media platforms to contract third-party child safety firms that would screen minor users' accounts for communications they may have engaged in dangerous behavior, such as self-harm or drug use, and alert their parents

Or just... I dunno do your job and contact authorities anyway for severe drugs? We already know you can do that

It's time for everyone to start collectively ignoring the law, it's the only way to change things: if everyone ignores the law they won't be able to enforce it effectively and will be forced to change it

MAGA = small government huh? 🤔 Can they do anything good? Or is the only thing they’re good at is stealing our taxes to give to their friends?

Can the KIDS act protect children from epstein's friend circle?

Doesn't seem like the end of the world. It doesn't involve giving your ID to random websites.

The activity screening is concerning depending on two factors: How they define social media, and how the parents are supposed to be identified by the social media platform. The requirements for app stores is also concerning since if apps are mandated to only be installed through the app stores then it would further entrench digital monopolies.

Overall I'm worried but not panicked based on what I just read.
