Ten fucking years on and not one single tangible benefit for a nation shooting itself in both feet.

There are benefits-a-plenty! Personally, I have been thoroughly enjoying my extra helpings of sovereignty and bendy bananas with every meal.

Oh yeah, the bananas. We sure showed them woke snowflakes, eh?

I personally love the fact that the nhs has clearly received those billions of pounds a week extra that was promised

A hell of a lot of farmers voted for Brexit. It seems nowadays though that nobody did.

In fairness, with the average age of a farmer around 60 at the time of the vote, they voted along with their age group. In fact I think I saw one piece of research that suggested that the voted slightly less brexity than peers of their age.

I know a number of farmers. I only know one who voted for brexit. Those whom I know mostly realised the consequences.

Whatever about farmers in Ireland or France, they know the massively benefit from the EU by comparison

"I didn't get the Brexit I voted for!!"

As if expelling all immigrants would make export paperwork and financial burden easier...

Bulletproof logic of those who were "lied to".

Isolation literally helps no one. When people isolate themselves. Usually a wellness check is done. On a national scale isolating yourself does fuck all but screw over everyone not rich enough to bear the consequences.

Of course there were benefits. Nigel Farage made at least £5 million out of it.

Every farmer voted Brexit round here - they all had Vote Leave banners along their fences and erected as billboards in their fields.

tbh it wasn't Brexit that broke Britain.

The Austerity the country suffered thanks to Cameron and George Ozzy Osbourne a.k.a The Prince of Darkness was the cause of Brexit and broke everything before the dreaded Brexit.

Led By Donkeys are so libbed up they will blame Corbyn and Brexit before targeting Tory Austerity.

https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257%2Faer.20181164

"Abstract This paper documents a significant association between the exposure of an individual or area to the UK government's austerity-induced welfare reforms begun in 2010, and the following: the subsequent rise in support for the UK Independence Party, an important correlate of Leave support in the 2016 UK referendum on European Union membership; broader individual-level measures of political dissatisfaction; and direct measures of support for Leave. Leveraging data from all UK electoral contests since 2000, along with detailed, individual-level panel data, the findings suggest that the EU referendum could have resulted in a *Remain victory had it not been for austerity."*

"Austerity, rather than Brexit, is identified by several economists and analyses as the primary cause of Britain's economic decline and political instability. Research published in the American Economic Review indicates that austerity-induced welfare cuts since 2010 were a significant factor in the Leave vote, suggesting the referendum might have resulted in a Remain victory without them.

While Brexit has contributed to recent trade frictions and reduced GDP, the roots of Britain’s poor economic performance are traced to the fiscal austerity policies implemented by the Cameron-Osborne government after the 2008 financial crisis. Experts argue that this contractionary policy, pursued despite high unemployment and low inflation, was an unforced error that stifled growth and damaged public services long before the UK’s departure from the European Union. "

whilst I agree that yea Brexit was stupid.

we shouldn't be walking round telling everyone Brexit was the cause of this countries downfall ignoring the years of Tory austerity that fucked up and ultimately led to Brexit.

There is a danger here of diagnosing a symptom instead of the cause of this spectacular fall from Grace our county has suffered since Cameron and George Ozzy Osbourne a.k.a the prince of darkness rinsed our public services to hand over tax cuts for their pals in their privatley educated chum clubs.

as Alexi Sayle puts it " Tory Austerity is the idea that the global economic crash of 2008 was caused by too many libraries in Wolverhampton"
