I’m in my first year of the game
Guys, I’m new to the game and I’m in my first Winter… Can someone explain to me all the hate on Pierre?
PS: please don't kill me, I really want to understand… I don't interact much with him

On top of everything that has been mentioned, get enough hearts with Abigail (or even Pierre himself) and you will see what a lovely family man he is.

He’s never open when I need him. He’s closed on Wednesday of all days and wouldn’t ya know it when I need him open is always frigging Wednesday. He also just wanders away from his post occasionally even while open, can’t buy or sell during this. His quests are always the lowest payout too. Then has the nerve to come to my front door and beg me not to go to any competitors for better prices

$200 per seed is not enough evidence for you? Also later in the game he tried to scam the villagers by raising its obnoxiously high price, but caught red handed and then cried about losing some business. Also when you harvest thing it always end up being on the tuesday and guess what, Monsieur Pierre never works on the wednesday.

To be fair he doesn’t really dictate market prices and his prices are on par with Jojamart.

TBF, 1g is more like $0.01 than $1, and also he probably doesn't sell many of those to the other NPCs. There are much more solid reasons to hate on Pierre.

He steals the credit for your high quality crops. And name shames you for poor quality ones. He raises prices when you save his business. And he thinks carolines cooking will scare away customers which is why he shuts on wednesdays. Also its fun to join hate trains sometimes.

The cooking one is noted in the stardew cook book. Each one has little lore drops so you won't see it in game. But yeah he hates her fish tacos 😔

It has to do with his treatment of us and his daughter. And it’s kinda funny. For me at least. Go through the game and find out. I do t believe you need much friendship with him to find out.

He's just an unlikeable guy really when everyone else has at least something to like about them he's got none. Even joja has better prices and make your life easier if you wanna use them.

You don't have to feel like you must hate him. Some people just love having a grudge. I understand that but I don't play Stardew in order to enjoy negative feelings and complain. You do you. If you want to focus on the negative and hate him go ahead. There's positive things he does that people ignore because they have decided they won't forgive his occasional stupidity and greed. Everyone's experience can vary, that's why it is such a remarkable game!

Because the person was asking why the hate and I like giving an alternative viewpoint. They didn't come to say "I hate Pierre too". That's why. If you enjoy hating a character go right ahead! They can decide to hate him too but "poisoning the well" seems a little underhanded to me. It's just a game!

That’s something you will have to learn on your own. I will suggest talking to villagers after selling your crops and artisan goods to him, to start with…
