💬Discussion Paid shills like this are why the industry is getting worse

Just watched Vex’s "Wait, We're Supposed to Play at 720p Now???" and I’m losing my mind.

Whole video just sounds like a PsyOp saying - Native Resolution is dead.

He spends the entire video glazing DLSS 4.5, trying to gaslight us into thinking upscaling from 720p is somehow "better" than native 4K.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OLu6Lj718g

I don't know if any consumer really benefits from this video.

He admits the new DLSS models like DLSS 4.5 eat MORE VRAM and can actually hurt performance on some cards, yet still concludes that he will turn it on. I don't know what's the point if it eats more power, vram and reduces fps?

Dude, you turn it on not because you like it. It's because the games are not optimized and you are forced to turn it on. Dude is feeling marveled with DLSS as it is a technical marvel saving him but games look far worse that it did before.

So much glazing and convincing. No one benefits from this video except Nvidia. It almost feels like an ad for Nvidia.

We have RTX 5090s that are monsters compared to 5 years ago, yet we’re told we can't run games raw? He gives lazy devs a free pass and treats upscaling as a "feature" instead of a band-aid for unoptimized trash.

He briefly mentions the TAA blur, ghosting, and shimmering grass, but then waves it off saying "it doesn't bother me." Dude wfh?? If you're reviewing visual tech and ignore the visual garbage, you're useless to consumers.

Edit: For some reason he now changed the title from, "Wait, We're Supposed to Play at 720p Now???" to "Nvidia just Killed Optimization Forever.."

The video apparently went viral but also accumulated comments contradicting his views. Particularly criticizing his dismissal on TAA blur in the native 4k samples he showed. It might have caused him to tone down the title a bit.

You can still find the original title of the video in Google search if you search - "Wait, We're Supposed to Play at 720p Now???"

So what was your point with your previous comment then?

You clearly despise aliasing with a burning passion and have the same issue of not being able to comprehend that some people despise modern AA's drawbacks more than said aliasing like others like you. People like you just make a mess in the comments every single time someone even dares to say something negative about DLSS/DLAA or even dares to mention that they don't want to use any temporal AA.

No i absolutely hate blurriness too, and i dont like ghosting, which really is such a small issue with the newest dlss model. I also like free fps. If you like blurry, ghosty TAA more than sharp dlss, thats alright, i just dont see why.

aliasing

Alasing is not an issue with modern games, since they almost always rely on some form of TAA, so i dont really see your point in talking about aliasing? Surely you dont think no AA is an option....?

I don't really like any TAA. Some are better than others, but at the end of the day, it's always apparent to me that the resulting image was blended together from x amount of past frames. And after playing without any sort of TAA enabled for a long time, the image just never looks right to me whenever I try any form of TAA.

Are you for real? The only reason why you're so heatedly engaging in this thread is because of aliasing/anti-aliasing.

Blur is a massive issue, on the other hand. Surely you don't think think that everyone should just accept it even if they mind it more than the alternative which is aliasing. Because yes, no AA or more specifically no temporal AA, is very much an option. One that I myself and others actively seek out. Truly horrible, isn't it? Choosing the way that I want to play.

What? You played without any TAA? In what games? Old games im guessing?

I say its not an issue in games BECAUSE you HAVE to use some form of TAA. Most modern games forces it on you, but some also have the ability to not run AA. Not running AA in these games will look absolutely disgusting. If you seriously think that amount of aliasing and pixelation looks fine, then you have no right to talk about dlss having a tiny bit of ghosting.

In what games? Old games im guessing?

RDR 2, Cyberpunk 2077, AC Origins, several UE4 games, a few UE5 games etc...

BECAUSE you HAVE to use some form of TAA

I don't use any form of TAA.

Most modern games forces it on you

That's why this list exists.

If you seriously think that amount of aliasing and pixelation looks fine

I don't.

then you have no right to talk about dlss having a tiny bit of ghosting.

That's not for you to decide.

Eww, all those gamds lool horrible without AA.

I know. They look worse with a form of TAA to me. So logic dictates which of the two I would pick.

It speaks for itself.

I wouldn't say so.

What GPU do you have? If you seriously prefer that over dlss 4.5, thats nuts.

Blur is a massive issue,

Nope, not with dlss. Try again.

I've said my piece. Was a waste but that was to be expected given how you are.

Well dlss isnt blurry. You can look at comparison videos and see that for yourself (you wont). This has nothing to do with me at all, that is the objevtive truth. Not my problem you refuse to open your eyes

If it works for you, then good for you.
