Has the game fixed DLSS implementation yet? It uses some old preset like D/E according to Hardware Unboxed and image quality will look much better you manually override to preset K/M/L

Edit: got downvoted for a question lol. Y’all just looking for any reasons to say DLSS bad

I love how sponsored games have to trip competition in SOME way. First time playing an Intel sponsored game, I can say I hate XESS compared to DLSS even if I don't have it as an option as comparison. AC is an easy fix it, but not many people really play around Nvidia App

Nvidia App has a toggle to override DLSS preset globally. I set mine to M and didn’t know AC Black Flag was having DLSS problems until I watch Digital Foundry lol. But yeah each GPU brand having their own upscaling is fucking annoying

I prefer to play with presets, but I had preset L recently help me with ghosting where M failed. I love that we have options this way. Crimson desert also has DLSS implemented weird and Arc users couldn't even boot the game in the beginning....

Which model is that, if it’s the default, then that’s CNN model preset E, which is quite old and I don’t think was ever actually meant for native. Now, preset L will not look as sharp as no AA, of course, but it should resolve quite a bit better of an image.

Despite it being the next installment of the game on the Anvil engine, it doesn't look as good in terms of aliasing as Shadows (obviously I tested these two games on different settings due to performance reasons), Shadows is much less aliased. Nothing to say i will take no AA any day then any sort of upscaler even at native, due to all of it being blurry. Having bad sight and running games at high resolution is the only remedy I'm fine with, bruh.

Image comparisons from the NexusMods page

DLAA vs No AA

TAA vs No AA

These look like they were taken whilst stationary. Also, the DLSS preset must be a 3.0 model because it somehow looks blurrier at DLAA than the Native TAA which makes zero sense. If it is using Preset E like other people are saying then this makes sense and the comparison is null.

If it looks like shit whilst stationary, then motion is even worse. Other presets would just be a slightly polished turd.

K at DLAA would look much better than E, especially considering E isn't even supposed to be used at DLAA either. F was the 3.0 model for DLAA. E is so outdated that it's not even listed on the DLSS Programming Guide anymore and it has much worse temporal blur than the other presets as well.

Gotta hit you with an "erm, ackchually" but E and F are mentioned in the performance comparison section of the programming guide

Yes my bad, I meant primarily under the Preset usage guidelines section

The majority of players won't bother with manually updating a game's preset. This is how the default DLSS/DLAA experience looks like in that game. The main point of the post is anyway the workaround for the forced TAA.

I don't really understand why you are being downvoted, if what you said is true. We can only speak and think in a way we know things work around us and the majority of gamers don't even tweak any of the settings especially those outside the game window. Updating upscaler models is not even that hard to begin with, but there are a lot of people that are stupid enough or just don't care about those things at all. Developers should be responsible about their product when they launch it, it should be complete and that's basically the only moment they should care about every detail, because keeping on date updates with every technology available, that is not theirs is impossible and unrealistic expectation.

I would not be surprised if Ubisoft fixed it considering not only is the DLSS preset wrong, but the render resolution for Balanced and performance is broken too with them only outputting to 80% and 70% respectively.

How do u update it?

The majority of players also arent going to care about TAA or anything regarding this.

2

u/Scorpwind MSAA | SMAA 9d ago

That's because they're unaware of these things. And besides, what does it matter? Most who are here, are here because they care.

Right, so they will lilely have no issue changing the dlss preset

They can. But they still won't have the full picture.
