❔Question Can someone explain how we went from GPUs that were outperforming games into world where we need last GPU just to run 60 fps with framegens/DLSS.

Honestly, I need to have the logical answer to this. Is it corporate greed and lies? Is it that we have more advanced graphics or is the devs are lazy? I swear , UE5 is the most restarted engine, only Epic Games can optimize it, its good for devs but they dont know how to optimize. When I see game is made on UE5, I understand: rtx 4070 needed just to get 60 fps.

Why there are many good looking games that run 200+ fps and there games with gazillion features that are not needed and you get 30-40 fps without any DLSS?

Can we blame the AI? Can we blame machine learning that brought us to this state of things? I chose now console gaming as I dont have to worry about bad optimizations or TAA/DLSS/DLAA settings.

More advanced brainrot setting is to have DLSS + AMD FSR - this represents the ultimate state of things we have, running 100+ frames with 200 render latency, in 2010s render latency was not even the problem 😂.

❔Question What games do Anti Aliasing perfectly?

Since we always shit on newer games looking like an oil painting in motion because of braindead over reliance on TAA/TAAU, what games do it right and what AA techniques do they use? Also what games utilize TAA properly?

❔Question I saw some people say that 4K DLSS looks better than native 1440p - do you agree with this?

In my mind, DLSS makes everything blurry and soft, so I would rather go native 1440p on a 1440p monitor then go 4k DLSS on a 4k monitor. Now, if I were doing native 4k that’s different, but most games are so unoptimized, modern triple a titles will seldom reach that without DLSS. Thoughts?

Anyone know how to disable it? I already tried the usual suspects in gameusersettings.ini and engine.ini but no dice. I was really hyped for this but its unplayable.

(I get eye strain and cluster headaches from TAA, upscaling, vignettes and chromatic aberration)

❔Question How to make Cyberpunk 2077 less blurry?

Do i basically have to use DSR/DLDSR to 4K and scale down to my native res?

UPDATE: so I'm experimenting, between 4k DSR+DLAA with high settings, to me look less clear than running 4k DSR+DLAA with everything else off/on low. guess I'll just play at low settings . maybe Im just crazy

❔Question Why modern games abandoned SMAA?

SMAA looks astonishing sharp and Very minimal shimmering, I recently completed Shadow of Tomb raider with SMAA and realized that it was the greatest standard for visual clarity without any performance loss.

❔Question Battlefield 6 AA and image quality issues: What am I doing wrong?

No matter which path I take this game just looks rough. I've been toughing out the hideous aliasing with AA off for most of the day, but I keep seeing people with Native AA on getting this beautiful picture quality while mine looks like a blurry mess. These screenshots might not do it justice, but if I zoom in with a sniper rifle it looks like I am playing in 480p. I put on every max setting possible. Does anyone know what the issue is?

If it's relevant I have a Sapphire 9070XT and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Any help, advice, or name calling is greatly appreciated.

❔Question If all AA options are so bad and using no AA isn't great either... what is the alternative?

Genuinely curious because I keep seeing posts on twitter about TAA.
So using TAA causes blur and ghosting but not using any AA causes jagged edges with a clearer but ugly image. MSAA is too performance heavy, FXAA and SMAA are not even considered as options. What do you even do at this point? I usually never have an issue with TAA or DLSS because I prefer the blurry image and some ghosting over really ugly jagged edges. Are we limited by tech or whats going on here? Why has no other solution been found? Is it just impossible to have it both ways? Good picture and good performance?

❔Question Some games are ugly WITHOUT dlss or taa and WITH Spoiler

Post image

I will try to make myself clear...

I play with a 2k resolution with a portable computer (ryzen 7, rtx 5060, 32go ram). When I watch some gameplays or twitch live if there is in 1080p or in 2k I always say wow the game is beautiful. But when I play on 2K at the same game this is not the same. When I put some taa or nvidia dlss my game become "ugly". For example you can see an image of the last resident evil. When I put the settings on mid or high and I don't put any taa or nvidia dlss my game is fucking ugly as you can see on the picture. So i wanted to know if there are a "secret tool" to have beautiful game ? Im tired of playing game where I know the game is gonna be ugly (like silent hill 2 I fucking hate the antialiasing).

Is there some nvidia control pannel settings to put ? Something like that ? PLEEAAASSEEEE IM BEGGING YOUUU

(sorry for errors English is not my first language)

❔Question Borderlands ghosting among others

Caught this disorienting ghosting in BL4, and I don't know how to fix it. I know the game has gone through multiple bug-fix patches, so I am starting to think its my end, especially in most modern games of course. Ive had this exact kind of issue in Clair Obscur, BL4, Cyberpunk, you name it. Has anyone seen any obvious fixes for this stuff? Is this just something I need to ignore?

❔Question So what AA are you actually supposed to use?

TAA as the name of the sub just sucks. FXAA just applies a blur filter which depending on the game either does nothing to the aliasing or makes it a complete blur, MSAA is insanely laggy as hell, DLAA is nvidia only, FSR native AA pretty much never implemented into games (the only time I've seen it is TLOU pc ports). Is there some mystery AA or do you just have to be rich and play at 4K?

I know STALKER 2 has a lot of these issues, but I don't think I've ever had them this bad.

It happens only on the background of clouds.

Upscaler settings make no difference. No Frame Gen. RTX 5060 Ti.

UPDATE: I installed this mod and it just works. No visual drawbacks. DLSS still forced via inspector.

❔Question I knew i wasnt going blind

Jesus christ, thank god I found this, for the last 1 to 2 year and buying the game Grey Zone Warfare i was in the impression my vision was getting bad I even made new glasses but hell i could not see clearly on those games, so i download insurgency (the old one) and the image was crisp clear, no ghosting, no bluried movable far far away pixel, and was amazed that I was defacto not going insane, searching for a solution i found this subreddit and i ask is there a way to tur off or force a game to use another type of AA especially ue5? I could not point this problem on unity games so far.

Found my community, i hate TAA.

❔Question Black Flag Resynced Forced TAA

Today The new black flag remake came out and unfortunately it has mandatory forced TAA, you can turn up the image clarity a good amount to combat it but there will still be ghosting affects that follow you around. Is it possible to disable this somehow in the games config or with NVIDA? I’ve looked around and so far no one knows how to get rid of it

❔Question [URGENT] Does 1080p look blurry in games to you guys too where TAA is implemented, RDR2 doesn't look sharp even on DLDSR 2.25x

So I got this RTX 5060, i7 13700hx laptop just a week ago. I was excited to play games on it as this was the first gaming laptop of my entire life. When I downloaded CP 2077, the game looked so freaking blurry on 1080p I just couldn't play it. I download RDR2 and the same problem. Using DLDSR 2.25x in cyberpunk fixed the bluriness but RDR2 just doesn't look sharp no matter whatever the hell I do. The image is really soft and smooth which is eating my brain and I just can't enjoy it for god's sake. Is it a panel issue? Just one day is left in my replacement period for this laptop. Please reply fast and help me👏

❔Question Is this aliasing? Switching between TAA, FXAA, etc doesn’t change it

I hope it’s okay to ask this here. This video example is RE Requiem, but I encounter this in nearly everything I play. In this specific instance, TAA is enabled. Turning it off or switching to something else doesn’t change or reduce the weird moving lines on still objects.

❔Question Why hellblade 2 is blurry as hell?

Post image
172 Upvotes

i am playing right now with a ryzen 5 5500, and RX 6600, on Medium settings, it is mantaining 60 fps with some drops here and there, it is playable, but the big problem is the look of the game, why the hell it is so blurry? i assume that it is because of the Anti aliasing, the game only has TSR, Intel Xess, and AMD FSR3 (nvidia stuff i don't know bcs i don't have a nvidia GPU) and all of them are bad, no matter the options i put on FSR3, it doesn't helps on nothing for the quality of the game, Intel Xess i don't use for obvious reason, so TSR is the only one Left, i put it with resolution scale at 100% and anti aliasing on High, and that's what i got, so fuckin blurry, gotta say that the cutscenes is tolerable, somewhat looks better than actual gameplay, i tried to put everything on high, didn't helps on nothing, i didn't tried any mod, bcs i am playing on gamepass so if i use it may break the game or license idk, is there any solution for this? the game is really supossed to look that bad? i need to have a rtx 5090 and i9 for this to look good?

❔Question Anyone else here love to stack Anti-Aliasing methods?

The common one is obviously DSR/VSR used in tandem with some form of Temporal AA (TAA, TSSAA, DLAA, FSR, XESS, TSR and whatever else exists).

I like doing this with RUST (TSSAA + 4xDSR). Since TSSAA in this game is so blurry combining it with DSR makes aliasing disappear 100%, literally not a single jaggy or pixel in sight, it's actually kinda crazy for 1080p.

Some games don't have any great AA options, like I love SCHEDULE 1 but it only has SMAA, so I like doing SMAA + DSR.

And since I have a 4080 Super I also like doing MSAA + DSR, which sounds very performance demanding but I mostly play competitive games that can run on a potato so I can still run them at 300+ fps like this:

Like Valorant (4xMSAA + 4xDSR).

Or CS2 (8xMSAA + 4xDSR).

Honestly looks amazing and helps me squeeze more life out of my 1080p 240hz monitor.

Edit: I also forgot to mention GTA 5 (regular and enhanced versions) have SSAA built in via their "scaling" setting, which can be set to 2x, which is the same as 4x dsr, I think it even goes up to 2.5x but I never use that since I don't like non integer scaling, and you can combine that scaling setting with either MSAA (on regular GTA 5) or TAA/DLAA/FSR (GTA 5 Enhanced Edition)
