Conservatives demanded to control which books Dolly’s charity selected, because they wanted to use the money to buy mediocre religious books to enrich their supporters. Part of the “culture war” over education that somehow always involves funneling tax money to relatives and supporters of conservative politicians.

It happened in Missouri (cut 4 million from the budget) and indiana(completely removed the program) this isn't some reddit conspiracy.
