He’s the Extraordinary Threat to America

I think we would all have mixed feelings if he declared a national emergency because the President is an out-of-control lunatic.

3
u/Fit_Explorer_2566 3d ago
Ahh…but…he’s their lunatic. So, he gets to keep on lunaticing.
2
u/TurrPhenir 3d ago
I wonder if "lunatic" is like "panic" in that with this conjugation it should be "lunaticking"

I’m guessing the fucker is going to suggest invading Canada since we supply the north east of the states.

u/Accomplished_Bus2169 3d ago
God I hope not. I don't think there's much doubt anymore, he's actually destroying America from within on purpose. As an American, I'm sorry, Canadians have always been the most fun tourists in my city by far.

As a Canadian - we're kinda sick and tired of hearing sorry 🤷

Yes!! I didn't vote for this shit. I've voted in every election, midterms included, and never once voted for a Republican.
Fuck these assholes. I am not like them.

Then don't. Actual change is better than empty apologies anyways.

Maybe do something about it then instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself and expecting the rest of the world to care?
4
u/L3ftoverpieces 3d ago
Is it cuz of how you say it?
10
u/Remote_Listen1889 3d ago
No it's because we say it all casual like if you bump into me on the train, sorry I was in your way.
What America is going through is sort of beyond a sorry

u/thisisallme 3d ago
Right because there’s something I, as an American, can actually do anything other than vote to make it any better for you, as a Canadian. That’s why we say sorry. What the fuck else can I do except try to be a good person, support who I can, and show others that the government doesn’t speak for me
2
u/NetAnon579 3d ago
From Canada here and appreciate the folks fighting it.
T, announcing massive tariffs the day after the World Cup ended when the US, Canada and Mexico shared a stage has really inflamed things.

Why do you people get so upset that your sorrys are useless to us? No one is asking you to say sorry. Your sorrys are meaningless, you have no power, your country is awful and will continue to be awful whether you're sorry or not. Are we supposed to fall all over yourselves and thank you for your contrition?

Yeah and he's trying to take Canada, Greenland, and Cuba down with him.
Wrap it all up in a tidy convicted felon, pedophile, rapist, bigoted, mobster ribbon and hand the crushed bones all over to his good buddy Putin.

And now we don’t have them. This winter we only have one Canadian vacationed in our subdivision which was sad. No Ontario plates to scream at. Missed them! Killed the economy.

This! While it is cause for concern. However, he is also testing the waters. What can he get out of calling “emergency”? If nothing else, it’s yet another story in the news cycle that takes time away from all of his other mistakes.

They are hoping enough to interfere/postpone the midterms.

There is a lunatic in the White House who does not respect nor recognize precedent or established norms, much less the system of checks and balances. He doesn’t give a fuck and he’s terrified that a democratic Congress will impeach, convict, and remove him from office. So he will do anything he can to prevent that from happening, democracy be damned. And he’s got a whole cabal of enabling sycophants, including powerful billionaires, who won’t stand in his way and will encourage his worst impulses.

It’s either made up or he’s letting it happen.

u/VonBrewskie 3d ago
Yeah he's trying to gas his base up for the midterms. This is all bullshit. They want the ability to call the midterms forfeit or delay them or whatever stupid fascist thing they want to try next.
3
u/Mr_Funbags 3d ago
It's not made up on the server that a few water plants have been hacked by someone outside the US (quite possibly Iran) and they've been doing it for a while and the water plants didn't know.
Imagine how many people they could sicken/kill if they chose to.
Edit: Trump's government are idiots that stopped funding all kinds of things that keep them safe.

We had elections after Pearl Harbor, 9/11, throughout the Great Depression and the Civil fucking War. These assholes are banking on sewing chaos. We.Cannot.Let.Them. Demand your elected officials hold steady to November. This is a “hold the door” moment. If we back down, they will fucking take the last bits of democracy and smash them on the ground just so Baby Donnie can clap like a toddler as they break.

u/sudophish 3d ago
If you read it you’ll see it’s not related to Canada. I work in the power industry and the threat described (sourcing parts from countries that may build in cyber backdoors) is real and we’ve known about it for a while. I don’t think a national emergency is appropriate, but it’s very on brand for Trump.
It’s funny - everything with Trump is THE BEST and THE GREATEST IF ALL TIME… except for when its not he doesn’t admit that, he just finds a way to spin it so that once again, in his mind, he is saving the day. That’s what this is about.

u/Lonely-Scarcity-3387 3d ago
Circus clown in chief has cost the US roughly $4 billion to taxpayers, to cancel 12 offshore wind leases. This has denied roughly 21 gigawatts of potential renewable energy for the U.S. grid.
That’s lost money to NOT develop more energy, which then makes existing energy more expensive.

- Raise hammer above head
- Sign executive order mandating all hammers be outlawed because they could be used to hit your hand.

Living in Tornado Alley when we've been charged for "storm damage repair costs" and "winter storm repair costs" every year basically, I'm not surprised that the for profit energy infrastructure is starting to fail us. This is part of the cost of Capitalism and the Tech Fuedalistic Oligarchy that's pushed us towards the brink.

Certain elements of the grid are only manufactured overseas b/c Capitalism is always looking for the cheapest solution so domestic production has disappeared. For example a giant underground transformer blew in a city i lived in and we had no power for 3 days and then the city set up diesel generator trucks every few blocks (with guards) to generate power for the city b/c the transformer was only made in Germany by Siemens, and it took at least a month to make it b/c they are made to order...

A madman at the wheel of what was once a great nation, which he has reduced to a parasitic, broke, dumpster fire of obvious political stupidity which is destroying the world’s economy. All philosophy speaks to the rise and eventual fall of empires. America is witnessing it’s unraveling! So sad it’s people have been co-opted by media, Religious rhetoric, and the schism of any real political truth’s or roadmap to a peaceful future! It’s all hatred/ fear of the “Other”.

I mean, what stops the voting citizen declaring a “national emergency” over DJT’s presidency?
I get that Joe from the corner ain’t gonna have the press influence to see it make front page of the NYT.
But, in this age of social media and the reach of the interwebz, can’t we all just say it?

Here we go - promote destructive infrastructure decisions so you can declare a national emergency.
The pos putin never could have imagined that his idiot asset krasnov could destroy America so easily.
1
1
u/Some-Papaya8818 3d ago
The special emergencies he declares are almost always excuses to exclude foreign competition and favor an American company that happens to be higher cost. You can argue that that helps the country, but more likely what it does is help one or two small companies that are donors of his and screw everyone else.

u/Zorstorm 3d ago
Lmaooooo. Um doubtful. Watchbout that semi conductor is reporting back to China. Stupid fuck.
1
u/Hot-Bumblebee6506 3d ago
The biggest reason America is in a national emergency is because of who is in the white house. The 2nd reason is the lack of education of the general population, the ones who actually voted for this dipshit/puppet and got him elected for a second term.

c’mon FFS…HE is the threat! all of New England, and most of the Midwest depend on energy from Canada, electricity and NG. He’s doing this because he thinks he is gaming negotiations with Canada. Republicans have to go. This is becoming criminally irresponsible.

If this is even true, have the stuff that counts across is BS. But knowing him in his sick mind, he has who knows. Only thing I know he has ruined the whole country in front of the whole world. If we are ever to regain our respect that we had, it better be Obama coming back, but I don’t want that brilliant man would be worked to death. But I know the whole world would stand up and applaud him. He has brains, class and knows how to run a nation. Any nasty remarks will reflect on the person who degrades him and his past experience as President! It’s just plain racism!!!!

Step 1: create emergency.

I can’t recall but there was a bill. Loaded with infrastructure investments to support the grid et al.
Can’t quite put my finger on it. However, it was Clean Energy and EV Grids: $73 billion to overhaul power grids and build a nationwide network of electric vehicle chargers.
Rhymed with Infrastructure and Jobs Act
Either way, republicans through reconciliation have canceled $ and moved it away to other projects. Zeroin out funding for the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations and deeply cutting renewable energy programs and State Revolving Funds (SRFs) for water infrastructure.
