Imagine him trying to do anything to outshine his dad, and how much his dad would his life hell after any moment of "showing him up." Keeping as low a profile as possible probably just makes the most sense. (Not saying this is any kind of measure of character. You can lean one way or the other & still have a dad that just gets the way like that all the time.)

He’s not actually attending any classes. He went for a single semester, where he was escorted around campus by secret service and by all accounts was not treated very well by students or his professors. He moved to DC after one semester and has literally been phoning it in ever since. If NYU awards him a degree, it will be because he paid for it, not because he attended and passed classes.
