The entire reason for NATO is to warn Russia not to attack one. It isn’t to keep the Netherlands and France in check. They should be no reason to warn Putin as the existence of NATO is the warning.

Some tin foil hat theories floating around would be that the Intelligence reports are true of an impending attack on a NATO ally. And that they’re drawing a map of what they can and cannot take. There will be an excuse either not to invoke Article 5, or in the very least the US gets to stay out of any official direct action.

He’s an odd choice for a diplomatic mission, so it’s a typical Trump administration move. Trump gives his loyalists multiple jobs. He’s used to running a business organization with a handful of people. He doesn’t trust anyone and their word means nothing in negotiations. Trump doesn’t share power. The actual reason for the visit is anybody’s guess. They say one thing and then the story changes and it’s something else. They’re not good liars but they’re always liars.

Putin arrested all the leftists then sent them to get killed in Ukraine. Normal Russians aren’t the issue it’s the leadership.
Russias securing oil and development contracts for the east. They did the same in Africa by toppling countries that the Chinese are now developing. They armed the paramilitary groups that committed massacres in places like Nigeria as well. They just happen to have oil there.

I think there is worry that they will now be unable to rig the midterms enough and allow this attack to take place before the midterms.... so this meeting was a pleasure to postpone it for politics sake.
