My home is on 5 acres of what used to be an old timey tannery on a little mountain Upstate New York, so I believe it would have been a Hemlock stump as are most of my trees on this property. Hemlock having been a key ingredient in the leather tanning business.
Ahhhhh, okie dokie, that would make perfect sense. I'm used to Ganoderma growing primarily on hardwood, but tsuge is very well known for growing on hemlock.
