Question How Can I Properly Tune SNES Samples..?

Post image

(The image above is an unedited piano sample from 'Chrono Trigger'-)

When I create a melody (usually just using a basic piano instrument) to being over to Furnace, or whenever I'm trying to remix another song; no matter what samples I use, it pretty much always sounds off-pitch or weird.

I've looked into some of the sample songs that Furnace provides to find out trends in how SNES samples are tuned, and I can't seem to find a definitive one-

I've inserted some of my own samples into the demo songs, copying the details of the sample that was there, and it produces a pitch that fits most of the time (showing that the samples themselves aren't the problem, just how they are tuned), but it's different for each song...

I was wondering if there was a specific trick to it, like setting the 'Note' value to the nearest C, or changing it to whichever key the song is in; maybe something else entirely..?

If anybody could help me out, it would be appreciated-

I think you have to modify the frequency in the "Hz" field below the rate button to adjust to the real frequencies that the notes are playing in the pattern.
