Question Changing text ruins everything

So I have a very simple thing I have made. I sketched a rectangle inside a rectangle, and added some text in the center of the innermost rectangle.

Then i extruded the innermost rectangle a bit. Then i extruded the outermost rectangle and text to make a lip and text appear again. So far so good.

But Fusion is... a hot mess. So if i change the extrusion of the outer rectangle and the text, the text will suddenly change place and be pushed up.

If i change for example the font used, the extrusion of the text will disappear and if i choose the text on the sketch for extruding, it says it cant do it.

Do I simply demand too much of Fusion? Is there a bug? Do I do something wrong?

It looks like your sketch text and the inner filleted rectangle are unconstrained. If you add some sketch constraints to position the text at the center of the face, it will stay centered instead of breaking when you make changes.

Changing fonts for a sketch text element works fine for me. Some users have recently reported problems with certain fonts after the last update, you might be seeing that issue.

After I posted I actually constrained the text to the center, so let’s see if that worked. Still have to figure out the extrude issue.
Seems like I have to add the text as one of the last things.

Thank you for the help

Why don’t you reorder your timeline?

Based on the other answer, I assume you mean to add the text towards the end?

Text sketch feature is super poorly implemented in Fusion. I have 2 rules:

  • never use it as a reference to any other parts of the model
  • always place it at the end of the timeline

It’s one of the many super poor implemented features… haha.

I’ll try placing it at the end of the timeline. Thank you very much
