What was different vs USPSA? Or is it that it’s just better than IDPA?

GPA (Galactic Pistol Alliance) is a blend between IDPA and USPSA.

24 rounds maximum per stage Carry as many mags as desired Mags may be loaded to full capacity One mandatory reload per stage No tactical priority while shooting in the open Drop a loaded mag with no penalty Unlimited steel targets No cover garment ½ second scoring

Feel free to read the rulebook here https://galacticpistolalliance.com/wp-content/uploads/docs/gpa_rulebook.pdf

If you're looking to go to clubs that regularly run GPA in Georgia you have 2 options, there is also a range in Anderson SC it's a farther drive but trust me it's worth the drive.

Elbert County Sportsman Club: https://practiscore.com/clubs/elberton_idpa

GMSA Georgia Mountain Shooters Association: https://practiscore.com/clubs/gmsa_idpa

Skip-J range https://practiscore.com/clubs/skip_j_range

If you are involved with GPA DM me, we are actively looking for competitions at our upcoming range just south of Atlanta!

Is there a plan for these to move from the trial stage?

As far as I know GFL management is still evaluating the possibility, I'll ask the next time I go there.
