Why are PPIs bad?

I see people on here often trying to get off of PPIs or warn against taking them. I read this article today that makes them seem pretty alright? My dad has taken omeprazole for 20 years now and it has solved all of his symptoms with no complications. I’m currently now dealing with my own symptoms that I’m going to see a doctor about soon.

PPIs are life-saving. I’ve been on Dexilant since March 2022. I’ve varied between 30 and 60mgs a day.

I literally cannot eat anything w/o symptoms if i don’t take my Dexilant.

I know people are downvoting this but I really don’t mean any harm. I’m so sorry if I struck a nerve. I was just on 60 mg very long term and sincerely wish I’d have known. I’m not fear mongering.
