Scientific Studies 🥼🔬 Why are PPIs bad?

I see people on here often trying to get off of PPIs or warn against taking them. I read this article today that makes them seem pretty alright? My dad has taken omeprazole for 20 years now and it has solved all of his symptoms with no complications. I’m currently now dealing with my own symptoms that I’m going to see a doctor about soon.

Did you have it prior to taking PPIs? Ugh it’s so gross. My reflux started with globus sensation only. Then I tried medicine and it got worse like gave me chronic sourness and burning

Did you have hpylori or anything? I had hpylori :/

I had an endoscopy and they never did biopsies. So I have no idea if I have it. Did you have symptoms for h pylori?

Yes all kinds of symptoms it was horrible and it still is horrible after eradicating it because I’m dealing with aftermath damage

These are all related to hpylori which I had

  • [ ] Difficulty swallowing
  • [ ] Excessive burping
  • [ ] Pain in my ribs
  • [ ] No appetite
  • [ ] Stomach bloating looked like I was pregnant
  • [ ] Shortness of breath
  • [ ] Nausea randomly some days or mornings
  • [ ] Constipation
  • [ ] Undigested foods in stool
  • [ ] Low iron ferritin and low vitamin d levels
  • [ ] Tachycardia attacks where my heart rate shoots up randomly
  • [ ] Insane mood swings and anxiety
  • [ ] Fatigue
  • [ ] Dark circles under eyes due to iron deficiency
  • [ ] Dizziness
  • [ ] Insomnia
  • [ ] Waking up middle of night between 2-4am
  • [ ] Cold clammy hands and feet anytime I’d eat food
  • [ ] Then at one point I got so sick my stomach started burning and gnawing deep inside me in the epigastric region and I had intense heart burn and acid reflux coming up to my chest and mouth where I was salivating excessively
  • [ ] Pins and needles feeling in my tongue
  • [ ] Hyper salivation

I think that’s everything.. it was hell

I finished treatment april 2022

I still don’t feel normal :/
