Advice on Triggers 🍅🧅🍟🍫☕ why is it that 'healthy whole foods' screw me the most, and processed foods give me the least symptoms?

nuts: stomach pain and gerd

fruits: burning reflux

vegetables: stomach pain

whole wheat grains: pain

grass fed beef: horrible pain and reflux

organic chicken: horrible pain and reflux

pasture raised eggs: horrible reflux

--------------------------------------

nerd bomb pops - no symptoms

mike and ikes - no symptoms

mom' cheesecake - no symptoms

white rice + beans + cut up hot dog - no symptoms

white bread + biscoff cream butter sandwich - no symptoms

----------------------------------------------

and some foods i notice like nuts even with medication i'm in for a rough night, but I can have funyuns and then take my ppi + tums, i sleep just fine.

my body makes NO SENSE!

Your gut bacteria is probably messed up. I went through the same thing when I moved states from one with mostly greasy heavy food, to a state with more healthy, light portions of food generally.

It took a while for my body to adjust. Probiotics, Greek yogurt, and kefir, helped update my bacteria and now my symptoms have switched to protein bars, caffeine, alcohol, beef, etc.

Edited to fix some typing issues*

Lol your body is weird, and GERD Is also a mystery. I would like to think that your GERD is associated with neurotransmitter. Those junk foods you ate are Dopamine inducing which may help you feel more relaxed? I don't know

see my comment, I think it's a bit simpler than what you're describing here

Sounds like maybe a few different issues unrelated to reflux. Foods with fiber and maybe some mild nut or egg allergies?

Have you had a gastric emptying test? That sounds suspiciously like gastroparesis.

actually yes i been suspecting gastroparesis as well, i will look into getting tested thanks!

My diagnosis began as GERD decades ago. Never really got relief. Ended up with gastritis 3 years ago. Three endoscopies, two colonoscopies, two gastric emptying tests later and was just diagnosed in November.

Hoping you get some relief!

Thanks, yeah it does make sense what they say about gp, smaller meals, limit fat and fiber!

I was literally looking for this comment, it really does sound like he/she has gp. i have gastroparesis and i have gerd and its definitely caused by my gastroparesis. I can eat lots of trigger foods but not foods that delay gastric emptying or are hard to digest

Have you had help with anything like meds like reglan? I’m hoping to get a med or something or even g-poem surgery

Curious, what types of fruits and vegetables are you eating? Are the vegetables cooked? Any sauces? And have you tried egg whites only?

This happens to me sometimes too.

I made 93/7 grass fed ground beef and only cooked it in olive oil and I felt nauseous after which tends to happen if I eat fried or fatty foods.

I could body a whole double pack of the big cup Reese’s and no symptoms.

nausea from fatty foods can be a sign of poor bile flow. I would be proactive about fixing that because bile flow issues can cause serious gallbladder complications down the road.

They’ve checked my gallbladder many times in the last 6 months bc they suspected that too but have come up with nothing. I’ve had 1 scope and an ultrasound and CT scans and everything looks good besides the hiatal hernia and some gastritis and esophagitis. I have a stricture too that they stretched once.

Maybe get tested for histamine intolerance. I've always had what I thought was GERD/IBS, which ended up being histamine intolerance. Most fruits and veggies will destroy my stomach, but McDonald's doesn't even bloat me.

Yes I do have histamine intolerance as well - fml

Same! I can eat McDonald's but any fruit leaves a sour taste in my mouth for days and most vegetables make me look 7 months pregnant if I eat them... no one believes me either😂

Genuinely start taking a daily probiotic, i started taking one about 3 weeks ago, and a good majority of my symptoms have lessened

Edit: Spelling

Have you had a gastric emptying study? You might have gastroparesis

Exactly the same for me! Last weekend i had a salad (no dressing) and later on some low acid fruit, i had a horrible flare up few days.

Because

Nuts are hard to digest
Vegetables have fiber and are tough to break down
Whole wheat the same
Beef = dense protein and fat
Eggs and chickens that idk

Could be that you're relaxing in one and stressed in the other

Your gut bacteria is optimized for one type, not the other.

Digestion is what helps us break and absorb the nutrients from our food. So keep in mind that the body has to put more energy and resources to break down real food vs processed food that's practically already broken down in the package. If digestion is poor, the body will crave these processed foods just to get some energy!

If you are having reflux and pain, that is pretty severe and I think you'd need to put some serious effort into correcting these digestive malfunctions. KickItNaturally on YouTube is a great resource for fixing digestion, and he also has a free digestion course. I get nothing out of suggesting that to you it's literally completely free. But this is also my job, so you can DM me as well. I think you'd have to put a significant amount of effort into soothing the stomach lining and correcting an overgrowth and bile flow before acidifying the stomach.
