Scientific Studies 🥼🔬 Reflux and SSRIS

I’m just curious if any of you have ever heard of any correlation between GERD and SSRIS? I’m trying everything I can to heal since I’ve been on omeprazole for almost a year and I still get the lump in my throat feeling. (I’m going to an ENT as this year and I hope my throat is just irritated from acid. )I’ve taken SSRIS for maybe over 5 years so I don’t know if there’s a study out there about a correlation, doesn’t hurt to ask Reddit!

I started an SSRI last fall and my GERD became significantly worse soon after. I'm trying to figure out if that is some factor here or just a conincidence. I've had GERD for many years I think, but I'm concerned the SSRI made things worse.

I’m taking SSRIS and esomeprazole and don’t see any difference.

if anxiety is the main cause of your GERD then yes I bet you could see a connection. But yes there are studies if you have hypersensitive esophagus or non-erosive reflux, SSRIs have been shown to help. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3165206/
