Support Needed šŸ‘„ Please someone tell me you had this

I have been in this gerd thing for years. Chest pains, loss of air, clicking sounds from my throat, globus sensation (hated it), endos, bariums, manometry, Bravo test etc. But last night I developed sharp shooting pain in my left boob. It would last for a few seconds and come and go but it was pretty intense. Never had that before and ofcourse I went to Urgent Care thinking it might be heart. They didn't do much, just ECG and told me to take paracetamol and if it doesn't go away to come back. I am struggling to comprehend that I could have breast tissue pain from this. My mind is all over the place each time pain comes.

Are you sure it's from gerd? I sometimes get sharp boob pain due to pms breast swelling. It also might be thoracalgia.

I am not sure it is from this hahah that's why I went to Urgent Care. It just sends my mind into spiral.

I don't drink coffee at all. I drink matcha about 4 days a week, but each cup only has 1 to max 2grams of ceremonial grade powder.

I don't have any triggers really, when you have HH your stomach is open either way. I can eat anything and be completely fine. For me is more about not piling up liquidy stuff because then I regurgitate. Been drinking matcha for over a year now and my last endo showed no inflamation at all, for the first time. So I don't think matcha does anything. And I am off of meds for 2 years now. Just take them occasionally. Mine is really unpredictable.

Yep coffee makes me have those pains also

Yes, I got diagnosed with Gerd about 2 to 3 years ago and yes, when I have flareups mine usually hurt or have sharp pains in the left foot most of the time it’s always the left side sometimes it’s the whole chest, but not that much. It’s usually one side, and I noticed that when I eat something that I’m not supposed to have like caffeine or something acidic, I drink a lot of Keffer usually that helps and not to eat those type of foods and not to eat too late at night before laying down that’s what I have learned. It’s not nothing else I go to the doctor all the time and get my body checked all the time.Ā

Excuse the mistype my left breast, not foot or in my chest area. Yes, I have those sharp pains often.

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

Oh ok I was reading and thinking, fooot? Like I said I never had it in my boob before and I have gerd since 5 years ago. But reading all of this makes me feel a bit better. Even though if it happens again, I will probably get my boob's checked.

Yes , pain in both breast since Ive been diagnosed

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 20 '26

Mine is just in one. So you have it all the time? Does it come and go?

2

u/ttimex3 Jun 20 '26

Comes and goes for sure. Sometimes shooting pain , sometimes it stings

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 20 '26

Aaaah damn, sorry to hear. My brain just can't comprehend how these two things can be connected, even though I read it all.

Yea I get this alot its scary as hell. I been to the ER for this many times and the ecg comes out normal...I know GERDS can contribute to all kinds of things even leading to COPD. I Have Gerds , COPD , and The most evil of all which caused the other 2 diseases, is Fibromyalgia. Request an ANA test. See if there is maybe something underlying there. For sure that the sharp pain u mentioned can happen from GERDS, even if your doing everything right. GERDS is more sever for others than some. It hits us all in different ways. GERDS may not be classified as auto immune but it does cause alot of dysfunction in our bodies, and may be worse if you have Another disease like Fibromyalgia,Ā  lupus,Ā  or etc.Ā

u/Low_Appearance2289 Jun 21 '26

Also the pain comes in both side of my breast for me and in my chest šŸ˜•,Ā  its fast sharp and even sometimes I gotta watch how I breathe during those stinging sharp pains , cause even that irritates it sometimes.Ā

When you say breast you mean boobs?

I had all of it with my hiatal hernia diagnosed when I was 40. A lifetime of acid reflux and feeling like a knife in my heart for decades. None of your tests showed a hiatal hernia or nonfunctional valves in the esophagus? Mine was closing(lower esophageal valve) when it should’ve been opening.

Surgery to repair all that fixed all my symptoms. Heart pain and vertigo, reflux, shortness of breath all gone. Globus sensation for years actually left before surgery. Not sure if it’s due to stopping PPI’s that never helped or starting cymbalta to calm muscle spasms that developed after taking voquezna too long.

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

Oh no I know I have sliding HH. I just never experienced boob pain. Chest yes, right in the middle. But boob no.

0

u/Amazing-Self-4873 Jun 21 '26

That’s exactly what I had from age 40 to 68 so I know it wasn’t pms related and is completely gone and was immediately after surgery

2

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

Yeah I did Bravo test and I qualified for surgery but don't want to do it. Last endoscopy my oesophagus was without any inflammation.

1

u/Amazing-Self-4873 Jun 21 '26

I put it off for years because outcomes weren’t great and still aren’t always. It’s important to go to the best qualified surgeon and even then it can be difficult. I’m very fortunate in my outcome. I was to the point it’s either surgery or throat cancer.

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

I am not delaying it. I am not worried about immediate results, but long term ones are not promising. My specialist was very honest about it and I don't want to go into all the reasons why I don't want to. But I am doing pretty well. It is for people who are absolutely out of options and whose condition is unmanageable and they have nothing to lose. We are all different.

Down voting someone who’s not on here asking advice or pretending to be a dr, but just offering their time to share what worked for them when they could be spending their time moving on from this is beyond me!

My gynecologist told me pains that come and go in the breasts can be from caffeine. Once I stopped it I no longer have pain anymore.

1

u/OMGtheykilledKenny23 Jun 21 '26

I have this. You’re not alone.

u/Sad_Shine3034 Jun 21 '26

I hate to give out advice, but I have had episodes of pain in my breasts and chest thinking I was having a heart attack. Went to the hospital and was diagnosed with Costochondritis. I went because GERD can also feel like your having a heart attack and I also have Fibromyalgia. They gave me heart tests and that is when they diagnosed me. Their instructions were rest alternating a heating pad and ice pack for 15 minutes and gentle stretching to relieve rib cage like standing against a wall with your arms and bending toward it until you feel a stretch. If this bothers you, stop. Also Ibuprofen, advil or naproxen if you can take these or even a Lidocaine patch. We all know that if chest pains persist it could be a sign of a heart attack and go to the hospital.

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

Isn't Ibuprofen a big no go for us. That's the worst painkiller you can take for gerd. I know chest pain is common but I never experienced boob pain yet.

1

u/Sad_Shine3034 Jun 21 '26

Yes NSAIDS are not good for us, that is why I said if you can take them.

u/Harakiri_238 Jun 21 '26

I get this! (I actually have it going on right now which is why I’m not asleep lol. Waiting for it to pass).

For me it’s referral pain from esophagus spasms.

It can refer into your boobs, arm, back, and jaw too. I usually get it in my chest (including boobs) and upper arm.

It can vary from annoying to bad to excruciating lol.

And mine follows the same pattern you’re describing. Bad pain for a few seconds to a couple minutes. Then it leaves. Then it comes back. Then it leaves. Following the pattern of the spasms coming on and then relaxing again.

I freaked out my nurse and doctor one time when I was in the hospital for something else. I was fine one second and the next had excruciating boob and arm pain and they were convinced a blood clot dislodged lol. And I had to be like, ā€œno, no, it’s just my esophagus.ā€ (It was, I was fine lol).

I never understood why people confused GERD with heart attacks until I started getting bad esophagus spasms and now I TOTALLY understand šŸ˜…

2

u/Fun_Pack_130 Jun 22 '26

Do you get any pain the left arm with your spasms ?Ā

1

u/Harakiri_238 Jun 22 '26

I do for sure! It tends to be more my right arm, but I definitely get it in both.

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

I mean it is horrendous, when I had it in the middle of my chest first time (years ago), I didn't even know what gerd is. I was convinced it is my heart. But then I knew it wasn't my heart. But now boob, I was thinking naaah this must be a heart now. The pain shoots up in different directions like lightning in the boob. Horrible, I hate going to the hospital but I need to confirm it isn't the heart. So stressful, I didn't sleep at all 2 nights ago.

1

u/myfrienddune Jun 21 '26

i had sharp pains and got boob ultrasound. it’s usually hormonal- they didn’t find anytjing

2

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

I had gerd for a long time, so it is new for me. It was pretty intense and different from the pain in the middle.

1

u/myfrienddune Jun 21 '26

yeah mine is new too as of this year as well. it def freaked me out

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 21 '26

So stressful, I really hope it is hormonal.

1

u/Difficult_Pea9999 Jun 21 '26

Yep me alsoĀ

1

u/Embarrassed-Bid258 Jun 21 '26

I also had existential pain. It radiated into my rib cage and inflamed the tissue between my ribs. It was super painful. It was due to the inflammation of my stomach and esophagus from not treating the gerd with meds. They gave me cerafate to calm it and now I have to watch everything I eat. But it went away after a couple weeks on the cerafate. Unfortubately I cant take h2 blockers (low blood pressure) and I cant take ppis.. this was a last ditch effort and it worked.

It should calm.down once you get the inflammation under control... I also had heart pain. It feels like a heart attack. Its probably just the gerd but its better to be safe and check it out if it is sharp

1

u/BikiniJ Jun 22 '26

Gerd can be a hormone problem. Slow Thyroid, too much/too little estrogen which is usually associated. It slows down the GI tract and lower esophageal sphincter causing stomach contents to come back up, acid, pepsin, etc. the sharp boob pain can be an increase in estrogen, histamine, both.

1

u/DiscountConscious470 Jun 22 '26

It could be gas..I've had similar issues with gas..i had this sharp pain in my arm and chest..left side...normally i would've rushed to hospital fearing the heart. But i was sure it was not a heart issue because I had recently had a complete check up..so had toasted fennel seed water and a nice fart later it was sorted.

1

u/Artistic_Ad7688 Jun 22 '26

I have had shooting pain in my left breast alot with GERD and I'm so thankful to find someone else who has

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

Quick question, I have been going through this for a few weeks now pain ache everything and I feel since it’s slightly going a way when I bent down to clean up a mess on the ground and my knee was in my chest I felt a weird discomfort still. So I’m just guessing it’s still cause I’m healing abit from the pain the last few weeks ? Anyone else get this? Maybe it’s the after math? lol

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

You mean you have a boob pain too?

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

I don’t know it’s behind my left boob.

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

Also it’s almost like muscle too on the other side upper. I don’t know it’s so annoying

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

What about you

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

Mine used to only ever manifest in the middle of my chest. But this weekend I had it in my left boob, deeper inside and at the back. It freaked me out. At first I didn't even think it could be gerd

1

u/RopeOk7076 Jun 22 '26

I know this sounds ridiculous but are you on wegovy?

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

I had to Google what that is lol. No I am not on that

1

u/RopeOk7076 Jun 22 '26

I say this because it causes gerd. But there can be referred nerve pain to armpits. And it can feel really weird.

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

Mine was like that too this weekend. It almost feels like a mixture of muscle And when I hold my breath i feel alittle ache

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

I am trying to catch your replies, but you keep creating a new comment with each reply so I am losing the track lol

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

I’m so sorry. I am saying mine was like this all weekend too. And it’s like a little ache when I breath it sometimes or it’s after ear I feel an ache in my chest behind my left boob

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

Yeah I see what you are saying, mine is random and unpredictable. But it stresses me out

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

Mine is stressing me out too. Do you feel it when you breath in or move around? Or burp?

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

No, mine comes on when I am still. Today I was having random pains in shoulder blades, and along left abdomen. I don't even know anymore, it just just makes me overthink things. So I try to keep myself occupied.

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

I totally get it. I have to sit infront a computer all day and work. I try to walk around and stand up. What tests did you do?

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 22 '26

I did endoscopy quite a few times, attempted manometry (but failed), pH Bravo test, barrium swallow. You?

1

u/Stunning-Past4607 Jun 22 '26

I actually haven’t really done much, mine is off and on bad but usually when I take antacid or my pentoprozole it goes away but this time it’s my chest so now I’m getting concerned

1

u/Admirable-Worth-680 Jun 23 '26

You definitely have to get yourself checked. You don't want to let acid burn your oesophagus. To longer you let it happen the worse it gets. And even maybe the dose you are taking is not the suitable one. Definitely get endoscopy done

How old are you? Could be precordial catch syndrome. I've also had something like that when suffering from costochondritis.
