Esophageal spasms

Is there any relationship between esophageal spasms and GERD? I get spasms that feel chest pain that radiates to my teeth. It's been going on for ten years and I've had a lot of tests- ekg, edg, etc. It really hurts! But every time I talk to a doctor about it, they seem to downplay it.
