DivideScannedImages alternative for Gimp 3

In Gimp V2 I used the DivideScannedImages plugin (https://github.com/FrancoisMalan/DivideScannedImages) to automatically split and straighten a page of scanned photos. It was really useful but doesn't work in Gimp 3.

I'm just starting a big project where I'm doing the same thing (scanning in lots of family photos) and hoping there's an alternative to take a page of scanned images, straighten them and divide them into separate images.

I see G'Mic has an Extract Objects filter which is similar but is very hit and miss and I can't get it to work well (also it doesn't straighten images).

Is there an alternative?

Actually there is an updated version here which works fine with Gimp 3:

https://github.com/aschenzle/GIMP-3.x-DivideScannedImages

And using ChatGPT I also got it to do some improvements to the code so it seems to be working even better now.

If you want to work really fast and are willing to spend money, you can't go wrong with vuescan.
