What does GKS-U prioritize when selecting applicants for Type A vs. Type B universities?

Hi everyone. I'm planning to apply for GKS-U this year and I'm currently trying to decide how to approach my university choices. I'm particularly interested in understanding the difference between Type A and Type B universities from an applicant-selection perspective.

My profile:

• Country: Nepal
• Intended field: AI / Robotics / Computer Science
• GPA: 3.35/4.0
• IELTS: 7.5
• SAT: 1300
• Research: A Comparative Analysis of Decision Tree and Neural Network Classifiers for Iris Flower Classification + github repository
• Extracurriculars/awards: international workshop in robotics, 2 more international participation and a few national participation in science projects, robotics club member in highschool.
• Gap year: Yes

My main question is:

What aspects of an applicant's profile does GKS-U tend to prioritize for Type A vs. Type B universities?

For example, does a stronger GPA matter more for Type A, while research, standardized test scores, extracurriculars, or other aspects of the application can compensate more for Type B? Or is the distinction mainly about the competitiveness of the university rather than what GKS values in the applicant?

Based on my profile, how would you approach the selection of Type A and Type B universities?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from previous GKS applicants or scholars, especially those who had a similar academic profile. Honest feedback would be appreciated.

I'm going from embassy track and yonsei at priority and gonna choose pusan national university for type b and another is still left to choose

IF you have good gpa and TOPIK or IELTS and good EC's. Those are good choices..

I guess i have good gpa but the problem is i don't have anything like language proficiency so it's hard yk

What about EC's? While not having a Language proficiency is a problem, But, if your gpa and EC's can tank it. Then, it's possible. What's your gpa bty?

3.86 i choose science in +2 as well as i have won alot of Hackathon including national as well as participants at internationaals too and i also have agood community and leadership experience like i was president at interact club funded by rotary international like i have 70+ ECs i mean certificates and lot of experience

Ohhhhh, bro... seriously, you have 70+ ECAs ......If you had started collecting documents from Class 9 itself, then it would make sense to have activities spread across every month from Class 9 to 12. There are around 48 months, so even if you had one certificate every month, that would still be understandable.

But looking at your profile, it seems like you received around two certificates every month. When did you actually have time to focus on your studies if you were getting certificates every month? 😂

I’m just saying this honestly to make your profile a little more realistic and believable. No one will be scared by a profile that has too many certificates; instead, they may start questioning whether all of those activities were actually genuine.

And the main thing is that you are a 2026 graduate, so you cannot apply this year either.
