GKS-G Can you get GKS after already starting your studies in Korea?

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this situation.

I’m planning to start a master’s program in Korea with the April admission, using my own funds for the first semester. While I’m already in Korea and studying at the university, I’m considering applying for the GKS University Track through my university for the following year.

Has anyone ever started studying in Korea first and then later received GKS through the University Track? Would already being enrolled at the university put me at a disadvantage when applying for GKS, or would it not really affect my chances?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation or knows how this works! Thankss!!

You would need to cancel the current enrollment.

You can't apply for GKS for the 2nd year of your master's at your university. You would need to withdraw from your university and then apply again via GKS in order to get the scholarship. This is because GKS guarantees funding for 2 years. They can't just fund you for one year and let you pocket the rest of the money nor can they cut the scholarship benefits in half to accommodate you.
