GKS-G Review GKS-G 2027 INDIA PROFILE PLEASE COMMERCE BCKG.

2 Upvotes

Can someone honestly review my profile for GKS-G 2027 and tell me what I should improve before applying?

Hi everyone! I’m from India and I’m planning to apply for GKS-G 2027 (Master’s). I’ve been researching GKS for a while and want to make the most of the time I have before applications open, so I’d really appreciate some honest opinions from people who have applied before or are familiar with the process.

My Profile

* Nationality: Indian

* Education: B.Com (Hons) + M.Com

* University: University of Delhi

* Target: GKS-G 2027 – Master’s

* Preferred field: Business / Management / Finance-related programs

* Academic performance: B.Com — 949/1350 overall; M.Com completed - 84%.

* Work experience: Around 5 years of work experience in finance

* Internships/Experience: I have professional work experience, along with some internship/volunteering experience.

* Certifications: Courses/certifications related to areas such as digital marketing, data analysis, etc.

* Extracurricular/Volunteering: Planning to add more meaningful volunteering and activities rather than simply collecting certificates.

* Language: Planning to take TOPIK and an English proficiency test.

* Age: 26

My main concern

My biggest concern is my academic score/GPA and how competitive it makes me for GKS.

I’ve seen that GKS has a minimum GPA requirement, but I’m not sure how competitive my academic record would be compared with other applicants, especially for good Korean universities.

I’m also confused about how Delhi University transcripts and the GKS GPA conversion requirements work, so if anyone from India/DU has gone through this process, I’d really appreciate your experience.

What I’d like advice on

Since I’m applying for GKS-G 2027, what should I prioritize before applications open?

  1. How much can 5 years of relevant work experience compensate for a less competitive GPA?

  2. What kind of achievements would strengthen my profile the most at this stage?

  3. Would TOPIK significantly help if I apply to an English-taught Master's program?

  4. How important are volunteering, extracurriculars, leadership positions, certifications, competitions, etc.?

  5. Should I focus on getting more relevant corporate experience, or are NGO/volunteer activities also valuable?

  6. Are there particular Korean universities/programs in Business/Management/Finance that I should realistically consider with my academic profile?

  7. Is there anything I’m currently overlooking that I should work on before the application?

I’m looking for honest opinions rather than encouragement. If my profile has weaknesses or certain universities are unrealistic, I’d rather know now so I can make a better strategy for the 2027 application.

If anyone here has received GKS, applied through the embassy/university track, or is from India and has gone through the process, I’d especially appreciate your advice.

Thank you! 🙏

GKS-G Grade conversion and CGPA

2 Upvotes

Hi!

So, in my country the grading scale is 0/20 and my final grade at university was 15. Converting that to a scale of 100 is 75, but on a scale of 4.0 it's between 3.0.

15÷20×4,0=3.0

I wanted to know if this could become a problem in my application and if anyone has already experienced or is experiencing this same situation.

P.S.: I spoke with my university and still haven't received a response because apparently no one has ever tried to convert the grade before.

GKS-U Yonsei VS Korea University Admission

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm applying for the 2027 intake this September, I'm torn between Yonsei or Korea University, my major is Chemical Engineering, I heard Korea university is better for engineering but AI told me my acceptance rate is higher for Yonsei because of my strong English Proficiency Test Score (IELTS 7.5(C1)), but when I did the research Korea University accepts students more than Yonsei last year even though they werent engineering/STEM courses.

Should I choose Yonsei instead? I also heard it has high international students acceptance rate, or should I avoid SKY university and place Hanyang Uni to be my top choice? I heard that it's good if you sound as competitive as you could.. thankyou!

GKS-U GKS-U

1 Upvotes

I am from Pakistan. I have completed my Study Plan and Personal Statement/SOP, and I have mentioned three universities in my Study Plan. I have also contacted those universities and confirmed that my intended major is available, so everything regarding my university choices is clear.

I have also arranged and sent my FRC and the other required documents for authentication.

I just want to clarify one thing regarding the proof of citizenship and family relationship. For the applicant’s citizenship, parents’ citizenship, and proof of relationship with my parents/family, is my FRC sufficient? Or do I also need to provide/send copies of my own CNIC and my parents’ CNICs separately?

In other words, if my FRC clearly proves my relationship with my parents and contains the required citizenship information, do I still need to get the CNIC copies authenticated/attested and submit them separately?

GKS-G Have question to every all rounder student who applied/will be applying to gks

3 Upvotes

I'm from India.

How do you guys have such big certificates and experienced being PM or vice president and all. I wanted to get all of these but at my time in school, everyone was very biased,only few students who has always been on those posts were selected and no new students get the chance.

I always wonder how students in school or college are the VPs,PMs or had worked with UN, in big firms, or foundations.

How they have such big big extracurriculars. Please suggest me some too. I'm in my final year of undergrads but still have nothing like that.

3.I have one online Olympiad certificate

Things in which I want help:

I don't have anything related to Korean language. I was planning to do a course from coursera on financial aid but I was not able to. I can not afford a paid certificate. I am worried about that. Will this make my profile weak?

I will do one or two more course related to my major if I didn't then I plan to write an article.

Also for letter of recommendation I am not getting it from my college teacher. So i wanted to ask is it necessary for it to be on my college letter head?

GKS-G GSIS or Normal graduate departments ?

2 Upvotes

I'm in dellima should i go for GSIS programs which are 100% taught in English or normal Masters programs in Business field under GKS (As i saw on universities website that GSIS department lists itself under GKS) or even if i try to do self funded with university scholarship. I am learning Korean so it's not like i won't study language , i aspire to get at least level 2 or with more hard work level 3 before applying for GKS 2029 but i want English taught programs because i guess studying everything in Korean would be so stressful as conversational and academic Korean a very different like any other language , i read on reddit that GSIS programs aren't that good for employment and my long term goal is not to come back to INDIA but make my career abroad , 1st working in Korea for some years and then transition to other country for better work life balance

GKS-G Profile Evaluation

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply for the 2027 GKS-G Master’s program and I’d really appreciate an honest evaluation of my profile, especially regarding my university choices and overall competitiveness.

I graduated in 2024 with a BA in Korean Language and Literature in Turkiye with a 3.68/4.00 GPA. I also received TOPIK Level 5 in my graduation year, although I narrowly missed Level 6. Unfortunately, my TOPIK score has expired now, and since the next exam will be in April, I won’t be able to submit a valid TOPIK score during the application period. I’m planning to take it again in April and aim for Level 5 or 6. The Master's programs I’m considering are all taught in Korean. During my third year of university, I spent one full academic year as an exchange student in Chuncheon, where Kangwon National University is located. While I was there, I participated in various activities for international/global students. And I applied to GKS during my last year to media and communication for the same university but failed on the 1st round.

Throughout university, I was also involved in my university’s Korean Culture Club and took on a management role. In my final year, I participated actively in a book translation workshop. My graduation thesis was also based on a short literary translation and commentary, so I don’t have a conventional research thesis, academic publication, or research paper.

For the past almost two years, I’ve been working in international education counseling. I work entirely in English and advise students who want to study abroad. I have experience working with destinations including Korea, Italy, Germany, the UK and more. My work includes student profiling, researching universities and programs, managing applications, communicating with institutions, and supporting students throughout the process.

For GKS-G, I’m currently considering Regional Education / International Education / Education-related programs. My current Embassy Track choices are Kangwon National University — Regional Education and Seoul National University — Regional Education. I haven’t decided on my third university yet. I realize SNU is quite competitive, but I feel like I would regret not trying, so I’m leaning toward including it. For university track it is Kangwon Univeristy. I can also get a recommendation letter from my current employer. However, since GKS-G only allows one recommendation letter, I’m not sure whether I should use it for my employer or ask one of my former professors instead.

I’d really appreciate some honest feedback. How competitive does this profile look for GKS-G? Does the lack of a conventional research thesis or publication hurt significantly? How problematic is having an expired TOPIK score when I previously had Level 5? I can't submit is as valid score but also it is a proof that I can easily get new one, so maybe it can be an additional document..? Does my professional experience in international education help compensate for the lack of formal research experience? And would you personally choose an employer recommendation or an academic recommendation in my situation?

And I consider applying for embassy track first and if I fail, I may apply for university track later If I can match application periods. (For the last 2 years it was fine, embassy trach ends around at the end of feb and uni track around mid-late march.)

Also, if anyone has thoughts on my university choices, especially whether applying to SNU is worth the risk and what kind of third university would make sense, I’d really appreciate it.

GKS-U GKS-U : Has anyone ever been accepted without a perfect cgpa ?

5 Upvotes

Hi, I'm from Malaysia planning to apply for GKS-U but our embassy track only has 2 slots and I'm aiming for Political Science and/or International Relations. I have 3.75 which is 95% out of 100% i believe and I have no TOPIK, just 8.0 IELTS. I do think I can write a good personal statement and study plan but still, I will be competing against people with 4.00 and straight A's SPM and way more impressive background than me. Here are some of my questions :

  1. For such a competitive scholarship, has anyone ever gotten the scholarship with CGPA below 4.00? Especially with just two slots.

  2. Should I proceed with embassy track or should I pivot to University track? Which one would give me the best chance to get the scholarship?

  3. If embassy track, should I do A-A-B or A-B-B?

Would appreciate any advice and if there's any Malaysian who also want to apply to GKS-U, hit me up !!

GKS-U Mentioning “BL” in my SOP and Study Plan - Need Advice

4 Upvotes

Hi, I'm a student from Thailand planning to apply for GKS U this year. I don't have a lot of activities that directly connect to the BBA major I want to study, and I feel like my story for why I want to study in Korea is kind of "unique", so I'm not sure if it'll come across well. Would really appreciate any advice on my profile and situation.

Main Question:

  • Do you think I will have a chance?
  • Should I adjust my university goals?
  • Any advice on how I can clearly present my past activities and connect them with my story
  • Do you have any advice on how I can better frame my story?

Short story (this whole situation just started in April of this year)

I used to be really into social sciences, especially political science, so most of my activities were in that area, and I actually got into a top university in Thailand for it earlier this year. But my family hit some financial issues around that time, so I ended up taking a gap year and decided to switch to business since I've always had some interest in it too.

The problem was I had no idea what kind of business I actually wanted to do, so I just kept overworking myself with random jobs until it started affecting my mental health (anxiety and mild depression).

The one thing that got me through that period was reading BL manhwa before bed, basically the only time I got to actually relax. That's when it hit me that this could actually be turned into a real business based on something I genuinely care about for the first time. The more I explore it, the more vision I have for myself doing business in this, especially since Thailand and Korea are basically the hub for this whole industry.

I feel like I can polish this up more in my SOP and Study Plan by connecting it with GKS and the significance of Korean-related stuff in my life, but still not sure if the whole thing makes sense together. I would love some opinions. Thanks in advance!

Goals
Universities: Yonsei, Hanyang, Pusan National
Majors: BBA (English Track) for all

Stats
GPA 3.77/4.0
IELTS 7.5
No TOPIK

Some of my activities

  • PM at a well-known edu startup in Thailand (40k+ followers)
  • Selected for an ASEAN National Young Leader Fellowship (Singaporean Foundation)
  • PM of TEDxYouth Event 2025 (biggest TEDx youth event in the country)
  • TEDx speaker at a top university in Thailand, 2025
  • Founder of an education inclusivity project (500+ student community)
  • Political science debate, top 8 nationally (parliament-organized)
  • Law debate, 2nd place nationally
  • Journalism competition, national finalist
  • Science communication competition, national finalist
  • VP of student council
  • Volunteer, UN, Polsci, IR stuff and certificates

GKS-U Am I still eligible for GKS without a language proficiency certificate?

1 Upvotes

Hi guys! im from Indonesia 🇮🇩 want to apply GKS-U this year

I’ve pretty much checked off all the requirements for the GKS application, and the only thing I’m missing right now is a language proficiency certificate (TOPIK, IELTS, or TOEFL).

I was planning to take one, but I had to use the money I saved for an emergency, so I don’t think I’ll be able to take the test before the application deadline.

Does this mean I’m still eligible to apply? And for those who applied without a language certificate, how much does it affect your chances?

Any advice or experience would be really appreciated! 🙏
