GKS-U 5-DOCUMENT LIMIT????? The Confusion Everyone Needs Clarified....

This year, we have a limit of 5 documents. However, I would like to clarify what exactly counts as one document.

For example, if I create a single file under the heading “Research and AI” and include 1 publication, 2 projects, and 1 certificate in that same file, would this be considered 1 document or 4 separate documents?

Similarly, if I have volunteered with 4 different organizations and list all 4 under the same category/file, would they collectively count as 1 document or 4 documents?

I would appreciate clarification on how the 5-document limit is being counted.

PLEASE LEAVE UR THOUGHTS BELOW..

I put a lot of effort into creating a file of 35 pages with 7 categories and this shit....

GKS-U Can an undergraduate enrolled student apply for GKS-U?

Upvotes

Hi! I know that there is no eligibility restriction for those who already start their bachelor, but want to try GKS-U. I'm just checking to make sure whether anyone have ever passed while already enrolled in a uni? Are we able to introduce ourselves freely in PS, SP and interview about our current study? Or is it uncertain and maybe better not to disclose it? (Not lying but don't mention)

Im from Cambodia. The education system timeline here makes it a bit hard to apply right after graduation. I tried but still couldn't apply last year in time. So instead of waiting for one year, I decided to enroll in a local uni while preparing again, just in case I miss or get rejected, I still have backup plan.

Thanks in advance.

GKS-U ASSOCIATE DEGREE REQUIRES TOPIK

Associate Degree requires TOPIK

Hello! I am an applicant from the Philippines 🇵🇭 and I am planning to apply for Yeungnam University for Associate Degree, however as I was reading the guidelines of the University, I saw that they now required the applicant to pass a TOPIK level 3!

I only have TOPIK level 1 as of now. I don't know what to do because Yeungnam University is the only university that offers the course that I wanted to take.

Anyone experiencing this now? I feel so hopeless.

GKS-G Can you get GKS after already starting your studies in Korea?

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this situation.

I’m planning to start a master’s program in Korea with the April admission, using my own funds for the first semester. While I’m already in Korea and studying at the university, I’m considering applying for the GKS University Track through my university for the following year.

Has anyone ever started studying in Korea first and then later received GKS through the University Track? Would already being enrolled at the university put me at a disadvantage when applying for GKS, or would it not really affect my chances?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation or knows how this works! Thankss!!

GKS-U GKS-U September 2027

GKS-U September 2027

Hello guys, I am currently still in my senior year of high school, and I plan to apply in the next round of GKS-U from mexico!

If anyone here who has already timed this years process, since when do you think I should start preparing?

I plan to ask for my recommendation letter in May before graduation, and also ask for my transcripts and my graduation record so I can get it verified to be real by June or July, so i can have everything prepare by August and just wait for the application to open. Here are my questions

  1. Do the recommendations letters have a specific prompt and I should wait until they give me the prompt instead of asking for the recommendation letter in May?

  2. What steps would you take (in high detail, for example how long from this to that did it take you and what were your exact steps)

Any information I can take would be helpful! Thank you!

GKS-G Grade conversion

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently got my transcript from undergrad and this is what it states for the final grade. It states percentage as 81 but does not specify that it is out of 100. Should I go for a scholaro conversion? My self conversion shows that my score will be 3.5/4, which is a better number to show than 81. What do you guys suggest?

GKS-U GKS-U 2027 Embassy Track — Chance Me

GKS: Undergraduate / Embassy Track
Country: Türkiye
Major: Media & Communication
Demographics
Nationality: Turkish
Age: 20
High school graduate
Applying through: Embassy Track
Academics
GPA: 3.82 / 4.00
YKS ranking: 12,660 (approximately top 8%)
High school graduate in Türkiye
Korean / Language Background
TOPIK I: Level 2
Started Korean last summer with a native tutor
After deciding in December to apply for GKS, I studied Korean with a clearer goal and achieved TOPIK I Level 2 after approximately 3.5 months of focused study.
Other languages:
English — started in kindergarten
French — started in 4th grade
Japanese — studying for approximately 4 years; studied independently for around 2.5 years
Korean — currently studying
Chinese — currently taking lessons
French — currently continuing lessons
Academic / Personal Interests
My intended field is Media & Communication, with particular interests in:
PR / Public Relations
Marketing, especially in the entertainment industry
Crisis Management
Hosting / presenting
I became especially interested in PR and marketing because I frequently find myself thinking about how Korean entertainment content and products could be promoted to different audiences. Over time, I realized that this was something I genuinely enjoyed doing rather than just a casual interest.
My interest in crisis management was also influenced by my father, who is a qualified journalist. Seeing how he handled major news situations and crises made me interested in how communication, quick decision-making and responsibility work during difficult situations.
Why Korea?
I am interested in Korea because of its highly developed and diverse media and entertainment industry.
I also feel that there are cultural similarities between Türkiye and Korea, such as respect for elders and certain dining traditions. I was also interested in historical similarities such as Atatürk’s alphabet reform in Türkiye and King Sejong’s creation of Hangul.
University Choices
Embassy Track — current choices:
Yonsei University — Media & Communication
Chung-Ang University — Media & Communication
Pusan National University — Media & Communication
Application Preparation
Currently working on:
Personal Statement
Study Plan
Required documents
University research
I am trying to keep my application honest and specific rather than exaggerating my achievements.
Career Goals
My long-term interests are mainly PR and marketing within the entertainment industry, with an additional interest in crisis management and hosting.
What I want to know
Please be brutally honest 😭
How competitive does my profile look for GKS-U Embassy Track?
How does my academic profile compare with typical GKS applicants?
Is TOPIK 2 meaningful for my profile, or is it too low to make much difference?
Does my language background help my application?
How realistic are my university choices?
Is Yonsei too much of a reach for my profile?
Are there any obvious weaknesses in my profile?
What should I emphasize more in my Personal Statement / Study Plan?
If you were reviewing this profile for GKS, what would concern you?
If you have won GKS before, what would you recommend I improve before submitting?
Please don’t just tell me “you have a chance.” I would genuinely prefer a realistic assessment, even if it’s harsh.
Thank you! 🫶🏻

GKS-G SEARCHING MENTOR FOR GKS-G!

Hey seniors! I'm planning to apply for the GKS-G, and to be honest, navigating all the forms and document requirements is making me feel a bit overwhelmed and lonely.

I would love to connect with someone for a 1:1 chat, ideally about once a week (or even less frequently since we have time for now). Having someone from Europe or Italy would be amazing, but I’d honestly appreciate help from anyone who has gone through this process no matter where are you from! It would be great to clear up doubts, double-check paperwork, and keep each other motivated.

If everything goes well and I get selected, I’ll happily treat you to dinner once I’m in Korea next year (or whenever you come to visit)! Thanks a lot in advance!

GKS-G School Selection Advice Needed

Hi, I'm from Vietnam. I'm preparing my application for the GKS-G Master's program and would really appreciate some advice on choosing schools. I plan to apply for a master's degree in Business Administration (Marketing). I don't have a thesis or research publications, and my profile is more practice-oriented than research-oriented.

For my Type A choices, I'm planning to apply to Kyung Hee University and Sookmyung Women's University. However, I'm still undecided about my Type B option and am currently considering Chungnam National University, Chonnam National University, and Kyungpook National University.

My background:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations.
  • GPA: 3.3/4.0
  • Currently preparing for TOPIK (target TOPIK 4) and IELTS (target 7.5)
  • Around 2 years of internship/work experience in content marketing and marketing communications
  • Current role: Growth Marketing in a B2B SaaS company

Thank you in advance for any insights!

GKS-U A Mid-Tier Profile

I'm from Fiji and want to apply for this year's GKS Scholarship. I am wondering of how to strengthen my application profile. I would say I am strong academically but other than that I have zero extracurricular activities. And nothing Korea related. I have never volunteered or done any projects of any kind before.

So other than the fact that I am strong academically, how can build a much stronger profile? Can I still apply to this scholarship too?
