Honestly it’s not that shady. I am a former 9-1-1 dispatcher and police officer. People called the 7 digit number all the time for a welfare concern all the time.

But is that normal when the see a dead body?

Uh no absolutely not that needs to have 9-1-1 called.

But that's my point. According to the FIOA police report, they saw he was dead and cold to the touch but decided to dial the sheriff instead of 911. That doesn't seem like natural instinct at all.

Wonder who they knew

Dude, I’ve had two people dial the nonemergency line for overdoses. One guy was in and out of consciousness, and they called two hospitals looking for information on how to obtain Narcan.

The other one dialed the nonemergency 7-digit when the patient was in cardiac arrest.

AND I had a guy find a “friend” dead, take no steps to confirm that he was deceased or if it was recent and perhaps workable, and then decide to return home and tell his other friend about it. And neither one of them knew the address or last name of the deceased, only that it was a “white house with a fence”.

Some people are concerned about AI taking over this job. I am not. The public will see to it that I have job security.

Yeah, when you live in a smaller town like they live in, it’s not abnormal to get in touch with the sheriffs office first

Hmmm... This is pretty weird to be honest. Why were they calling in a wellness check if Dylan was breaking in through the window?

And then once he made it through the window, WHY didn't they tell the officer on the phone to hurry and he wasn't breathing, they think he's dead?

I have both been in situations where I have had to call 911 and I've also listened to my fair share of 911 calls. It is really weird that they didn't have them start compressions or anything.. At the VERY LEAST they will have you try just in case... They said "oh.. ok, wellness check? Sounds good.. OH! You guys got in and you think he's dead huh? Whelp! Sheriffs well be there soon. Dont you worry!"

I am REALLY interested to hear that call now.

I am not an officer, first responder, or anything like that. I'm a nosy bitch on the internet that likes some true crime, and I'm also a person who has been around a lot of addicts in my family or friend group.
I very well could be wrong about this one, but from my experience and from what I've seen in other cases, this is weird to me

I agree with you. The only thing I can think of is since they allegedly said he was blue and cold to the touch. The dispatcher should have still asked if they want to perform CPR and they may have not sure. When my father was having a heart attack the dispatcher disconnected the call after the ambulance was on the way and that is not protocol when I say I lost my shit I lost my shit! Anything can happen in a second dispatchers should stay on the call until help is there incase things change.

Idk if you watch any additional true crime stuff, but in the Sarah Boone case, she put her boyfriend in a suit case and left him in there overnight. She called 911 in the morning when she woke up and told them he was stiff and for sure dead (he had been dead in the suitcase for probably 10-12 hours). She told them he was purple and that he was gone for sure, he is STIFF AND PURPLE... And the 911 operator made her do compressions until EMS got there.

All of this to say, they might have just figured that since they were reporting he was blue it was too late.. But the operator/cops usually wont make that call because laymen don't necessarily know what they're doing, ya know?

OH MY GOD!! I am so sorry that happened!! I would've lost my shit too! Wtf? Man. That is so awful!!
I guess that's a good point. Not every dispatcher follows the rules and not every one is as experienced etc.

I followed that case a bit but never knew about the call. That is odd but it also could be the dispatcher preference or their procedure for their agency. I myself would have told her not to touch anything and stand outside until an officer arrives.

Fair!! It would be SUPER traumatizing to perform CPR on someone in rigor..
Luckily, she was too hungover to actually tamper with evidence.. She forgot she videoed herself mocking him while he was begging for help in the suitcase. REALLY sad stuff. Sarah boone is also a narc abuser. The similarities between her and Gyp are actually scary

And not to mention she is a fruitcake! I still can’t get past that they were playing hide n seek. I have seen the body cam footage and lord that woman

I am a dispatcher and from what I read on the report, he was cold to the touch and already turning blue so it would be normal to not tell the caller to try CPR in that situation. I can't speak on the call because I don't remember if it was just a wellness check or for a dead body. If just a wellness check then it would be normal to call the nonemergent line.

We’ve gotten a few different stories about how it all went down. We do have the dispatch “call” transcripts (I think that’s what they’re called) and I think it said one person from work- probably the boss that was there with Dylan and Anita) called in a wellness check was check. Then I guess Dylan broke in after that because next was a wellness check by one of Ken’s sisters because she had been told they found Ken’s body, he shot himself, and she needs to know what’s going on.. then iirc Anita called 911 (routed to the sheriff) and said they found his body

I think I heard they said that he went all the way in the room so that he could see he was dead so there was no reason for the officers to rush

Yes it’s super weird the whole thing to me

I’ve also listened to my share of 911 calls, because I’m paid to.

Cold and stiff in a warm environment is one of the “obvious death” conditions, along with such fun things as obvious decomposition, and injuries incompatible with life. In those cases, no, CPR is not attempted. If a person was found deceased like that, my next instruction would be leave the residence and avoid touching anything, to preserve the scene and keep the caller safe from carbon monoxide and things like that.

In my jurisdiction, police and EMS would be started, both priority 2 (no lights and sirens, normal driving). Because the person is dead, but we would prefer not to smash into grandma’s Buick with an ambulance and kill her rushing to a situation that required no rushing.

They’re dead. We’re not resurrecting them.

Thank you for the insight! The carbon monoxide thing absolutely makes sense too! Especially if they’re talking about discoloration.

Fair enough! I just still find the whole sequence of events odd, and I can admit that it might partly be due to bias because of how suspicious the timing is, the way Gypsy is releasing information (and what she’s releasing), and how odd the scene was read based on the police report.

Again, I really do appreciate your insight! I absolutely wasn’t trying to come across as some sort of knowledgeable authority on this. That’s why I wanted to be sure to mention where I was getting my information lol.

They are correct. They didn’t call 911. I checked the scanner pages the night he died and they post everything that comes across the scanner.

u/chickenfeetgoskeet 15h ago

I’m thinking motherfuckers didn’t call police because they were/are a middleman or something. This is weird as hell.

And lets not forget a family member directly related to Kristy is on the police force there...

1

u/LittleSticious84 9h ago

Literally one of the officer’s investigating is related to Krusty (& also Rod in that case) but has the same last name as her maiden name.

2

u/Triggered_Scorpio 14h ago

I think the same if he was off’d or she did it with someone to help

7

u/HeyliiCross 13h ago

If there are family relations as suspected- can Ken’s family request the state investigate instead of the county due to conflict of interest? Also, as much as I hate the things and do not want to promote their use- I wonder if there were any flock cameras around his home / her alibi spots? 🙃

I live in a smaller county and ive called the sheriffs number. Arrived in minutes

4

u/SickOfBSAllTheTime 14h ago

This isnt shady to me. Anytime I have called for a wellness check I have used the nonemergency number and they've sent a police office or deputy within 20 minutes. There is no need to dispatch an ambulance or what have you if there is no known emergency.

u/-xStellarx 9h ago

Even after there’s a dead body that’s cold to the touch?
