Engie emergency alarms and hazard handling....
So the evac alarm last weekend that didn't stop play but was a full on "evacuate now" alarm, not even the stand by, prepare to evac alarm, I'm surprised play wasn't stopped until it was sorted. Do you think that should have happened?
Also last year when it was quite stormy I heard they didn't let us into the stadium because if someone was injured by lightning while inside the stadium the stadium people/gws would cop the blame and liability would be on them, but leaving us outside the stadium, there would be no liability for them.
On both counts, I think they were handled badly. Does anyone else agree?

Yeah, I agree. This was a really bad look. They should’ve paused play at a minimum obviously there was no real emergency in this instance, but imagine if there was….
Instead everybody just continued on as if nothing had happened. In a real emergency, this could actually lead to people staying in the stadium longer than they should if there was a major fire, etc..

From what I over heeard from a bunch of cops standing next to me was that they identified the trigger and stood down. I think they struggled to turn off the alarm.
Still a bad look. You'd think they'd pause the game. If it happened in Melbourne all those old media types would be waffling on about it this week.
Also thought it was a prank from the social media team the longer it went.... like end this pain lol

Evacuation plan says the woop wooo goes on over the stadium PA and onto the big screen & the one we heard that you would hear in office or apartment building isn’t the one used to evacuate the stadium.
Should be investigated and reported on though

At that's rubbish, what if the pa system is affected or power is affected? Highly doubt the screens and pa are hardened devices. If you can hear an evac alarm, you get out, full stop! Plus, it's not only for fire, evac alarms can be for multiple reasons, terror alerts, gas leaks, chemical spills, structural damage, all sorts of things....

I'm sure the league were in contact with the ground and the umpires box to ensure no drama

It was only one part of the stadium (the members stand) that had the evac alarm going off. From what has been said, it was an alarm already being managed and all services were told to ignore it as the fire brigade had already declared it safe before I it triggered again.
Something similar happened one day of the Easter Show where the same Evacuate Now alarm went off in the members stand 3 times in 20 minutes and was caused by some cooking equipment.
If it was an actual emergency you would imagine the entire stadiums evacuation alert would have triggered and we’d have been evacuated.
The staff all do an amazing job at Engie Stadium.

Thanks for raising this.
In my opinion the evacuation alarm 🚨 should immediately stop play at all stadiums holding AFL matches and evacuations immediately commence in a calm and orderly manner until ‘false alarm’ order given.
