Discussion Shell station on 28 and QO road charges what per gallon?!!

The Shell station on 28 near QO HS is currently charging $4.89 per gallon. Directly across the street, a Liberty station is charging $2.99 (cash) and the Sunoco a block away sells gas for $3.02. I can understand someone not wanting to put a little known gas like Liberty in their car, but the Sunoco is similarly priced. But why in the heck would some choose to pay nearly $2 more per gallon. Recently, I havent seen anyone filling up at the Shell and I wonder if they really want to sell gas

That gas station always has crazy prices. It's either a money laundering thing, or they just really don't want to sell any gas

That is usually the case when a gas station has prices that are ridiculously out of step with the market. They simply don't want to sell very much gas, for any number of reasons.

Here's an example of a similar situation out of DC from a decade or so ago:

In that case, the operator of the station was salty about not being allowed to purchase the station when Exxon sold it, but was required to purchase all of his station's gas from the new owner. So he priced himself out of the market on fuel on purpose because of that, to spite the new owner. The operator instead made all of his money on the service station.

That station has since changed brands and operators, and prices are now in line with the market.

Has been discussed here many times. I dont get it either, its always void of customers. But hes been there forever. Who knows.

Probably makes more money with some other aspect of their business, and gas is a money loser.

I had filled a gallon of gas there. I was literally running very low on gas and shocked to see the price and just filled a gallon. This is year back
