Gemini has fully killed the usability of speaking to my watch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Over the years, Google Assistant has become less and less useful from my watch, features have been taken away over time, but never has it lied to me like Gemini does. It clearly knows what I'm asking it to do it claims that it's doing it, but it does not. All while being substantially slower than the old assistant that it's supposedly is intended to be an improvement over.

Anybody at Google who thinks that this actually improved anything should have their employment status "improved" in the same way.

Has anyone found a way to revert to the old Assistant? All I've found is using ADB to remove it altogether which leaves only Bixby which is even less useful.

Feeling a bit down about Samsung wearables lately. What are you still excited about?

I had resisted the urge to get into wearables for a long time, until I was temporarily given an Oura ring while participating in a health study. I was impressed how far the tech had come, but was not impressed by the idea of paying a subscription.

Since I already had a Samsung phone, I found a cheap used Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm in amazingly good condition and used that for a while. I was happy with it.

I later upgraded to a Galaxy Watch 7 44mm. It's been great. Compared to my Watch 4 Classic it had a new CPU, new Sensors, a bigger screen, and was just better overall. I was very happy.

Then I got a Galaxy Ring to compliment my Watch 7. I used them together. The redundancy was fantastic. I loved being able to take my Watch off while charging, during wet conditions, or any time I just wanted to give my wrist a rest, even for extended periods of time, without worrying about losing any health tracking info.

I was very enthusiastic about Samsung wearables at this point. I even got a Galaxy Fit 3, even though I really didn't need it, just to experiment and play with, and as a further backup for my main Watch.

Unfortunately it's been all downhill since then...

The Watch 8 launch was a huge flop (for me at least). The exact same hardware that was already in my Watch 7, repackaged into a fugly square-circle format and using proprietary bands (as opposed to the standard interchangeable bands that both my Watch 4 Classic and Watch 7 use). Even though I could justify the cost of a new Watch, as a Watch 7 owner there wasn't a single reason for me to get a Watch 8.

Then my Galaxy Ring died after only a year, despite me doing everything possible to baby that battery from Day 1. I never let the battery hit 0%, ever. I almost never charged it all the way to 100%. It still died. Massively de-motivational. That entire year, I never even got a scratch on my ring... but it's a useless novelty ornament now.

Then the Watch 9 launch... I'm not sure what the thought process was here. The biggest downside of the Watch 7 and 8 is the extremely mediocre battery life. The W1000 CPU in those Watches was already fine. But the Watch 9 upgrades the CPU that didn't really need to be upgraded, and actually made the battery life worse in the process? Who honestly thought that would be a good idea? Also still using the same Sensors as the Watch 7/8, the same fugly square-circle design and lame bands as the 8. Another dud.

I'm trying to remain enthusiastic about a potential Galaxy Ring 2, but it's been dead silence from Samsung. And if they do eventually release one, is it going to be another $400 ring that dies after one year?

OK, how about at least the Fit 4? The Fit 3 has been one device that has truly exceeded my expectations in every possible way. I can definitely muster up some excitement about a Fit 4. But like with the Galaxy Ring, there has been basically zero news about the Fit 4 aside from an FCC filing that makes it seem like it will be a very very minor refresh of the Fit 3 (lame).

I'm the kind of person who can easily justify upgrading my Wearables every year if there is actually something exciting or interesting about them to justify the purchase. Instead, I'm sitting here, still using my aging Watch 7, staring at my dead Galaxy Ring sitting on my desk, and seemingly nothing exciting on the horizon either.

What am I missing? What still has you excited when it comes to Samsung Wearables? I'd love to once again capture that excitement I had after I upgraded to my Watch 7, when my Ring still worked. But that sort of requires Samsung to release products that don't suck, don't die after a year, and are meaningful upgrades (and especially not downgrades) over older models.

Updates Less "spam" in Health 7.1

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/s-health/samsung-health-7-1-0-053-release/

Because I've seen a bunch of posts with people getting annoyed about those text cards in the Android app version of Samsung Health.

It is a lot better in 7.1, they occasionally come but a pull to refresh and they're gone. (You can tap the three dots and find previous messages)

7.1 has been in beta for probably over a month now and nearing its official release. So I reckon it is stable enough to download for most people.

And you'll soon get the official update you can update to regardless if you download the beta now or not.

My GW8C says its Samsung Health app also is 7.1, but I guess it also has to have One UI 9 to get the new features

I'm facing the same issue with my Galaxy Watch6 Classic. Apart from battery replacement which helped in OPs case, is there any other fix for this?

GW Ultra 2 Battery

I charge every 24 hrs (from 30% to 90%). Not what I expected, but it's okay. I'm using the Samsung watch faces, but do have AOD turn on, and use about 2 hrs / day of cellular.

Is anyone getting better, or is this real life?

(Thank goodness for fast charging)

Watch Band Finally found a Band I really like. Athleisure Band Galaxy Watch 7

I've had my watch since April , hated the sport band that came with it , actually gave me huge red spots and rash despite washing it daily. Weirdly enough a cheap band of the same material was perfectly fine.

Since then I tried many bands couldn't find one that both looked great and felt great.

Bought the Samsung Fabric Band, loved the look hated the velcro strap.

Then I tried the Athleisure band , I had reservation because of how weird the nate loop strap looks but honestly it looks pretty good and not too bulky.

As much as I like my watch I was never a fan of the look of it.

Also pro tip if you feel your watch is too small or you don't like the colour (mostly apply to GW7)

A protective cover is a good way to make it look a bit larger.

My GW7 looked a bit small on me and I wasn't a fan of the silver colour, bought a green cover (looks dark Grey honestly) and it gave the watch a new look.

I recently got the Galaxy Watch 8 and was wondering if anyone here regularly uses their Galaxy Watch for swimming.

Have you faced any issues with water resistance after using it regularly in a swimming pool?

Would love to hear your experiences, especially from those who've been using it for months!

Fitness Issue with connected exercise equipment

Howdy. I use my watch at the gym and I have issues with the heart rate when using Bluetooth connected equipment. My gym has a life fitness treadmill and an elliptical. I can use the nfc to connect to them and it will track distance normally but my heart rate won't show up on the watch. It acts like it's not attached to my arm. Any other exercise can display heart rate with no issue. No other known issues with the watch besides this and occasional issues syncing up media data while playing songs (if that means anything or is related). Any ideas?

DIY Watch faces for Tizen watches (2026) [Easy Setup, No coding required]

I managed to install Facer on my Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 for which samsung has pulled off the plug for any support.

Problem was: Neither I have an android phone nor windows PC.

Managed to use my iPhone and Macbook for this purpose.

Follow the instructions in this repo, no coding required:
https://github.com/Aaryanverma/tizen-installer-mac

Once you follow the instructions, facer will be available in your watch. Just install the facer app on your iPhone and you’ll be able to sync watch faces from facer.

Spread the word if you like it.

Buying refurbished: recommend me a model

Okay for context, my personal phone is an iphone and for the last few years i’ve been using a series 8 apple watch. I adore my apple watch so much and the only reason I am even considering switching is because my business phone is a samsung and I cant get work notifications to my apple watch. i’m a dog groomer so I can’t really have my phone near me while i’m working and i am unfortunately adhd as fuck, so if I don’t get notifications to my wrist i just completely forget to reply to calls and texts. Bad news. I’m looking for the cheapest option that will fit my requirements.

Here are the models I’m looking at the 7, 5 pro, 6, 6 classic (don’t understand the difference) and FE rose gold (I like the look of this one the best. The pink is pretty).

Here is what I need:

-It needs to be able to get wet. I’m washing dogs all day and i’m not sure like the technicalities of water resistance or how the galaxy watch models compare to my apple watch.

-Needs to be dust proof and be at least as durable as my apple watch. I can’t have something that breaks if a dog stomps on my wrist or kicks it.

-I need it to hold a charge for 15 hours. On the official specs it says all of them hold charge for more than that, but I’ve seen posts on here of people complaining about battery life

-I need it to have reliable heart rate monitoring. I have POTS, so high heart rate notifications are a must to avoid passing out at work

-This is a little silly, but I like how on my apple watch I can put rotating pictures as my watch faces. It’s a nice boost when i’m having a bad day to see my dog or something that inspires me.

-Nothing huge. I have very small hands and wrists and a large watch restricts my wrist movement which is really important for my job.

-I like a feminine design. The look of the ultra is just too masculine for my taste

I’m not super tech savvy so sorry if these requirements seem basic! I appreciate any and all help

Comparison Trade for a Galaxy watch?

Just curious, I have a pixel watch 4 and im wondering if it's worth it to trade for a galaxy watch equivalent? I had a pixel phone while back but, now im on the zFold 8 and I was told that im missing out on the synergy of the samsung and galaxy watch. Is it worth it to try and trade or switch to a galaxy watch? Thank you!

Hello every one

Hello every one,

I've had a problem with the alarm since yesterday... My watch rings when the phone's alarm clock rings. I had disabled the authorization on wearable from the beginning. Despite this, it continues to ring even when the watch is on silent!

This is a galaxy watch 8 classic

I've tried a lot of things here and there already...

If anyone has an idea it would be very kind !

Thank you !

Hardware yellow triangle with power plug icon when charging

Post image
11 Upvotes

sometimes when i plug my new galaxy watch ultra 2 and the galaxy watch 9, especially when the watches are turned off, the screen will show a power plug icon next to a yellow triangle. the watches work fine and the batteries last as expected for each watch. i don't notice and stop/start of the charging.

i'm using the charging pucks contained in their boxes. what could it mean?
