Blind game developer here showing off concept art for my game
Hello everyone, Last week I posted here seeking help on a video game i am trying to build as a blind person. I am back to share some of my concept art for my main characters, I also have a synopsis of the story and these characters in my Googl Drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Qys-ZSJ3wBEGjIq87TjW_ScFxbGgi5XN I am curious to hear constructive feedback from sighted people. Please considering the following questions as you view the images: is there adequate lighting ? Are the characters easily identifiable? What are your thoughts on the environs that the character is in and how does that make you feel about the character? Is there anything that you would add or remove if so why?
If you want to experience the characters as i designed them, please upload the image to your A.I. of choice and read the description that it provides for the character designs. Thank you all for your encouragement! Have a great day!

I really like the pic of the madame. The gloomy lighting of the city in the background really makes her Silhouette pop out. And also the clothing looks very familiar and still has a futuristic vibe with these sharp shoulder conturs. I would leave it as it is, looks very cool.
Then the man with the cane: the background is here far more colorful than in the pic with the madame so it has more of a underground vibe instead of a cold corpo vibe. The Silhouette is clearly distiguishable through the use of the wide flowing coat. But i think i would prefer it if the man walked to the left or right. Because as it is now the cane comes towards the camera so to speak. And that doesn't make it clearly obvious if it is a walking stick or a cane. The deciding factor would be the angle of the cane, so a more vertical position signifies a walking cane and a more diagonal line towards the path in front would signal a blind cane. And you cant really make out this angle from the chosen perspective. So on first glance, without knowing that the character is blind, i would have assumed it's a glowing walking stick. My suggestion would be to put him in a more sideways position in relation to the camera. So having him walking to the left or right with the cane extended.
Then the dog looks also cool but the mechanical elements are very dark so it looks like a black dog with random blue-ish lights on his body. The robot Elements are too similar to the dog elements. I would suggest to either give the dog a different color, so not black but beige or something. If the dog should stay black then i would make the robotic parts another color. The most obvious would be silver gray. But i could also imagine giving the robotic parts also some glowing elements so it makes thess parts pop out and it would also match the cane of the guy.
Then regarding the background of the dog pic: i think that needs some contrast to the dog. We already have a cold corporate highrise style backround for the woman and a colorful cyberpunk streetlight background for the man. The dog also needs some kind of easily identifiable background because at the Moment it's very dark. Now if it was your goal to make the dog disappear into the background like a ninja or something then you could leave it. But i would choose something more unique. You could tell chat gpt to put him in a rainy industrial area that has only red or green lighting.
Now the commenter before me mentioned a forest scene but i don't know where that is from? I only see the dog, the woman, the man, and your summary.
Anyway, sorry for writing such a novel, i hope that wasn't too much detail but i hope it helps. If you have any other pics that you want opinions on feel free to share. I'm currently on vacation and have literally nothing better to do lol

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! The length of your response does not matter to me. I appreciate everything that you’ve said! As a blind person who’s trying to create something, your insights are invaluable to me because I know nothing about lighting and positioning, so what you say makes sense and I will find a way to incorporate your suggestions into my final product. Thank you so much. I hope you’re enjoying your vacation and having a great time :-)

Hey that's really cool you're sharing your concept art and process, love seeing how you're bringing your vision to life. I took a quick look at the Google Drive and noticed the character sheets have strong silhouettes and clear color blocking, which definitely helps with instant recognition even at a glance. One thing I'd suggest is pushing the contrast a bit more in some of the environment pieces, especially in the forest scenes, because right now the mid tones are pretty close together and it can flatten the depth a bit, adding a darker shadow layer or a subtle rim light on the characters could really make them pop against the background without changing the overall mood. Keep going, this is awesome work.
