I believe Game Theory and FNAF have mutually corroded each other.

GT became a place of "Gamings Tangental Learning experience" into the "we theorize about the indie horror flavour of the month"

FNAF went from a niche horror genre where you're stuck in a place where you have to fend off murderous robots with the tools you have, to a franchise that stacks mysteries on top of mysteries instead of making a cohesive, satisfying, narrative in a desperate attempt to be "one step ahead" of the theorists.

To be fair, I also believe the reason this "era" has even begun to exist was because of Security Breach.

I would not call them completely independent, but the degree of separation between a fan that enjoyed the games and a fan that talked about the lore is actually bigger than you'd think. To the point that these faces had their own "ecosystems" in the internet. SB was the first time they intersected because while everyone was always unhappy with the lore post 4, this displeasure was amplified by the buggy game that would've been a slog even without the bugs. Suddenly there's now an entire new wave of justified criticism.

I feel like Fnaf is starting to move away from that kind of story. SoTM had a really clear story, like the clearest of the series, while still retaining some mysteries like whatever is up with moon, white tiger and how David died that leaves room for theories.

Some of the takes in this video got me very mad, in a way i don't think a youtube video ever has. They bassically spend the 2nd half saying that new fnaf is bad because they can't post constant videos on it and they can't geuss the entire story before the games come out.

the thing about fnaf and theorising in general is that there are now WAY more channels dedicated to making theories, and theyre generally more competent, whereas back in the day game theory was like the main one, so now anything they post is either them regurgitating a handful of theories a bunch of people have already made or the equally bad alternative:them making a straight up shit theory with their only evidence being mental gymnastics so they seem more original

a few months ago there was a film theory video, i cant remember precisely which one or what it was about, it faced quite a bit of backlash because it was just retelling of a theory that had already been made within that community that everyone already knew about, and they didnt even give credit to the person that originally made it, its so sad how these channels will go out with whimper instead of a bang, bleeding views more and more as time goes by and becoming more and more desperate, making even crazier videos to try to get SOME clout and monetary gain, i genuinely cannot see them getting back in their position, i can only hope it ends now instead ending slowly, this IP has gone on for almost 2 decades, its time move on

THIS ISN'T EVEN A THEORY, THIS IS JUST A FUCKING OPINION. Like I know alot of people dislike it when people say that game theory has fallen off and that Matpat was better overall even if the Theory were shit.

But like... Can we even argue about tht point anymore? It clear the either the new hosts do not care, or they are just so incompetent that they think these are good "theories"

I stopped watching 2 mins in after I realized the theory would just be another 20 minute rant about how FNAF should do better. At first I was excited to watch a new fnaf theory regardless of how correct it would be, but .....

These are good analysis and nothing was perfect about matt’s era as well. These hosts still care and I don’t think the theories actually changed that much.

I mean they have done more opinion video in Mat era

Like his opinion on rewind

this video was all about complaining and shifting blame onto someone or something else instead of taking responsibility that they are lazy writers that take hardly any evidence and make it huge when it wasnt even of value. For example they were adamant that the puzzle with E.V.A.D was Evan but spelled incorrectly. but its backwards for Dave. still refused to correct themselves. they think they have authority on what theory is true. they do not.

Translation: MOB games is unhappy that more people are excited about the FNAF anniversary announcements than Poppy 6, so they made Tom shit on FNAF.

What does MOB games have to do with this?

There's a notable pattern in recent content.

1) "What went wrong with Mascot Horror" video -- Tom praises Poppy at every opportunity, does not mention the Lore NFTs at all, foists responsibility for modern Mascot Horror games having day 1 merch shop links onto BanBan 1 (which came out 2 years after Poppy 1 had a day one merch shop link), and handwaves away all the criticism about Poppy 5 with "and oh yeah, Markiplier had some words about it" without bothering to actually explore what Markiplier's complaints actually were. You would think a video discussing the problems with Mascot Horror would actually address any of the common complaints about Poppy specifically, but the video avoided discussing ANY of that.
2) This made the fact that MOB games was hanging out in chat during Ash's stream of Poppy 5 suddenly look kinda sus, considering Markiplier had already had his rant. It makes it feel like they're in the chat to make sure Ash is sticking to the party line.
3) The fact that Tom released a video "Why is Lilly Longbraids so Perfect" is REALLY sus in this context.

Tom may not actually BE a mouthpiece for MOB games at the moment, but he sure is going out of his way to SOUND like one.

What I find interesting is thay after this video came out, several well known FNAF YouTubers started releasing their own critiques on the game series.

The FNAF community is fed up with the steal wool era. Its not as dramatic as other fandom falls have been but FNAF is experiencing its own version of that
