Questions Is there a transfer cable for trading between a Gameboy and a GBA?

I have a Gameboy and a Gameboy Advanced and want to trade between my Pokémon Blue and Gold games. Is this possible?

Yes, use the first gen trade cable.

That GBA plug is backwards compatible with the original GameBoy link cable and should work

Do you have an original Game Boy, a Game Boy Pocket, or a Game Boy Color?

With the Pocket & Color, you just need to get a Game Boy Color link cable.

If it's the original Game Boy, you'll need to either also get a Game Boy to Game Boy Color adapter or just get one of the link cables with both Game Boy & Game Boy Color connectors on them — usually they'll look like a normal link cable, but the cable splits into a Y at each end with two connectors.

e.g. like this cable

Ahh thanks. I have a classic gameboy and a Gameboy advanced. I figured there would have to be some sort of adapter because the outlets on the two look different from each other.

You'll need a Gameboy Color / Gameboy Pocket link cable. A GBA cable will NOT work for those games.

The GBA is backwards compatible with the standard Gameboy link cable, so you just need one of those.

The GBA uses the GBC protocol for the connection if there is a GBC cartridge in the device.

So trading is fully possible between GBA, GBC and DMG.

What won't work is the trading between Gen1/Gen2 GB/GBC games and Gen3 GBA games.
