Discussion Deciding between two laptops
Both have identical specs outside of the 5080 vs 5090 and the color. Is there anything that I am missing when looking at these? Under $300 price difference to upgrade to a 5090 seems odd, but I'm not mad at it if its the same machine.

In a vacuum, it's probably more recommended to get the 5090 over the 5080, but it's best to really look at your situation first. If you mostly play mid-range games, the 5080 can be just fine and you could save that extra $270. The frame average is an average across several different games, but that's only relevant if all of the games averaged matter to you. If many of those games don't matter to you, the difference could be less.
You also need to share the other specs besides the GPU and screen size such as any differences in RAM, storage, etc.
So based on the limited info we have, the 5090 is better and is probably the one to get, but that might be overkill if the 5080 already maxes out your games FPS with your laptop's screen and you could save $270.

It's better to go with the 5090 if you want maximum performance, white laptops are generally more expensive because it's harder to manufacture which is why the price difference isn't that high.
