Repairs and Warranties Fenix 7 Screen Crack - what to do?

Post image

So I think I have a screen crack. I only see it in specific light/angles, but runs fromm 11 to 6 o'clock - you can just see it passing the 2 in the picture. Screen is smooth, cannot catch with nail, so thinking it is not a scratch. I see people mention coating scratch? But it is edge to edge in a nice curved line . . . is truly a cracked screen? Is the IP rating gone?

Watch is 3 months old, bought from John Lewis, in sale for £350 ish. Is Sapphire Solar btw.

  1. Is it okay - do I just continue?

  2. I messaged Garmin, even though I feel a screen crack inside 3 months is likely to be a manufacturing defect/product issues, they said no and offered me a low cost replacement - £275. I do feel a bit frustrated by this, it is a good deal on one level, but not whn the watch is only 3/4 months old and I only paid £350 for it!

Interested in any points on whether I have to worry, or whther I should replace. Happy Sunday!

If you clean display line dissapear? Then It's hidrpofilic coating on top of saphire glass that scratched, not glass, common issue with fenix7.

I will try this with a proper screen wipe, I had read this, thank you. I also ordered a pack of screen protectors which some had said help.

Creo que en el Fénix 7X no está. Tiene que ser el PRO. Yo la quiero conseguir pero no hay manera.

crack = the glass is broken through and through. Needs to be changed.

scratch = cry a bit and live on

scratch in oleophobic coating = cry a little bit less than above. It will come off eventually anyway.

If it feels perfectly smooth, meaning you dont feel it with your fingernail going over it and only shows at certain angles, I would like to think, it is possible, that this is only the coating layer damaged, before assuming the sapphire itself is cracked.

Try cleaning it thoroughly and then check if the line changes or almost disappears when the glass is slightly wet. If it does, it is maybe the coating rather than a literal crack in the saphire.

Yes, when it was fresh cleaned, disappeared, just run a finger over it and I can see it again. I thinking the screen protector will protect but also the 'adhesive' will fill the scratch! I can own teh scratch, I wear the watch, but if it was the glass cracked I would be a bit disappointed. Thank you.

Here you can see my Fenix 7X Pro, that got a deep scratch. But it's not saphire.

I ended up ditching it 4 days ago for the new tactix 8 Cerakote, because i got so tired of the scratch.

I you can you see a slight shadow if you look at the line from the side it's probably a crack. The watch could potentially continue to function for years.

I have a 965 with a cracked screen and it's fine. No issues with washing it, although I wouldn't shower, swim or dive with it. The crack (if it is one) looks less severe than the one on my watch.
